Emiliana hang your head in shame. I loved 'Love in the time..' for it's lovely ambient beats together with that beautiful voice. Wasn't expecting the folky turn of 'Fisherman's' but still great (especially live).
This latest offering is an example of someone with absolutely no idea as to what direction to take musically. I have no problem with taking different directions, but probably best not to take them all at the same time. This is a complete mess and a waste of - did I say already? a beautiful voice.
I would of given this album 5 stars however a couple of tracks let it down. I bought it because 'To Be Free' is such a superb track and there are other good tracks on the album just not all to my taste. It's worth buying purely for the outstanding vocals.

I put this CD on at work recently, and was embarrassed when I found myself struggling to choke back tears. When you bear in mind that this is a collection of songs by someone who has lost someone close to them, and is trying to tell herself that they have just gone on a long fishing trip, it is so poignant and moving. Gets me every time. Such a lovely lady too. Saw her at a very intimate gig a few years ago, she was incredibly cute and funny.

Most people have heard her unique vocals, singing the hauntingly, sorrowfully creepy "Gollum's Song" during the closing credits of "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." But very few people know Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini by name. Which is a shame, because her trip-hop/electronica album, "Love in the Time of Science," is a unforgettable one.
While sitting firmly on a seat of trip-hop and gentle pop, Torrini stretches her wings with a variety of musical types. It's made up of light electronica like the cool, sweet "To Be Free," and murky pop ballads with a slightly morbid edge. "Keep my daughter in a jar/she can't get out/she won't go far," Torrini croons in one song.

although this icelandic girl sounds a litle too much like bjork, she is still lovely, and i'm addicted to her album. i can say she is somewhere between bjork, fiona apple and aimee mann, i think. her voice is sweet and this song makes me cry. she just isn't perfect because of the bjork thing in her voice. you can listen to her in gus gus polydistortion too (i love those two songs!).
