I just had to give my opinion on this cd as I had ordered it on the recomendations of the other reviewers,
first of all if you are not a fan of david bedford then give this a miss as it sounds to me like it was cheaply put together, I know this was recorded in the 70's but there are better alternatives out there from that decade. robert powells voice as the narator gives it some credit but is drowned out too often by the music, I gave this cd a few plays just to see if it would grow on me but I have just taken it to the charity shop. >>More Details |

I can safely say this is my favourite album of all time. I've loved this since I was a kid, and will never grow tired of hearing it. If I had to streamline my entire CD collection down to one disc, this would be it. It's just beautiful.

i have been in love with this mans music since radio plays of tubular bells opened my ears to a vision that has reached many highs and a few lows. this album proves......GOD IS BACK BIG TIME.
I HAVENT ENJOYED ON FIRST PLAY AN ALBUM SO MUCH SINCE AS FAR BACK AS INCANTATIONS. EACH track weaves a musical spell that leaves you wanting more , getting better as you get further into the magical sound play that mike has created. if you thought the king was dead.....think again. >>More Details |

First of all the remastered version here offers excellent sound quality and the production on the album is excellent.Im a big fan of Mike Oldfield and have 11 of his works in my collection,Im afraid to say this album is my least favourite out of all of them.I found the four pieces of work on the album very difficult to get in to,I found the songs very very laid back with heavy chanting throughout and the songs I found very droning in nature,dont get me wrong If your the sort of person that enjoys a lot of chanting you will well enjoy this work and I would recommend to you but for me I didnt find this work on the level of Omadawn,Discovery or Hergest Ridge which in my meagre opinion are far more enjoyable works and I listen to them often.Other great works are Crisis and Islands ... Mike's music never ages, even if the generous use of synths on Crisis points to the 80s. Every Oldfield album seems to have a technological edge to it which for me makes them a joy to listen to. Starting with a simple and perhaps irreverent tune, the layers of music build and interweave before a moody and seriously catchy title melody `Crises'. At this point I'm aggressively nodding my head - excellent stuff. Again more clever tunes with a dark edge juxtaposed with some gloriously sweet melodies carried by Mike's guitar. The layers of music build once again before a stirring finale which ends with appropriate abruptness followed by a reprise of the simple tune as an after-thought.
