Phew! Where does one go after a track like Karma Police? Sublime stuff from the UK's most influential band. The track builds and builds, lifts you along, so that in the end you do lose yourself. If you haven't heard Radiohead, I suggest you do. From Pablo through to Amnesiac, the journey is worth it. For a minute there, I sounded like a record executive! I must lie down!

Music : Knives Out, Pt. 3

Knives Out, Pt. 3

by: Radiohead
October 09, 2001

This is the second single released following the release of Radiohead's latest album, Amnesiac. "Knives Out" was played rather heavily during the Radiohead concerts during the run-up to the release of Amnesiac, but what came out on the album was a soft, mellow and an absolutely great song - something the fans didn't expect. The other thing about Radiohead singles is, their magnificent B-Sides. This one is no exception, the songs "fog" (originally named "Alligators In The New York Sewers"), "Cuttooth", "Worrywort", and the extended version of "Life In A Glass House" (also on the album) live up to the reputation of those before them, drawing comparisons with their earlier great B-Sides ... This is the second Radiohead tribute by this fine American String Quartet. The first was 'Strung Out On OK Computer', which provided a startling example of the complexity and structure of Radiohead'a masterpiece, and also can be applauded for managing to recreate the claustrophobic atmosphere of the original.

This album is again a great insight into some excellent musicianship. Unfortunately, where "Strung Out On OK Computer" gave you an excellent new view of OKC and on occassion created an atmosphere even greater than the original (most prominently on Fitter Happier- which is a phenominal rework)- this album only makes you want to listen to Kid A!

It goes to show that the layering and sheer complexity of arrangements on ... Read More:

This song, taken from their first album Pablo Honey is fantastic. It is excellent from start to finish and shows what Radiohead were all about, brilliant music and strange lyrics. A joy to listen to and worth listening to. Again a fantastic single from a magnificent band.

This collection of Hail To The Thief-era B-Sides is the very definition of hit and miss. The acoustic Gagging Order is okay, the live version of 2+2+5 is pretty rockin'... but at the same time some of this is a complete waste of talent and electricity. Thank god In Rainbows was so good right?

First off, this isn't as good as There There, but that dosn't make this a bad song, this is a fantastic song, with some intresting (and as usual, different lyrics) from Mr Yorke. The song is mainly played on acoustic, with a slight blues feel, and Thom repeating 'Over my dead body' with a different line between, the riff as the song gets to about 1.50 then gets very tapping your foot on the ground like, and is a song that can be remebered in your head. As i had said Thom comes out with some intresting lines like my favourite 'We don't want the loonies taking over'. Then Johnny comes into play with a Paranoid Android style solo just without the speed. Go To Sleep was a great choice for a single, and i hope 'Sit down, stand up' will be next.
