I can't remember how I first heard of this, but I am so glad I did because the music they play just blows you away. It's uncategorisable. it's new. It's energetic use of the guitar as the percussion for their tracks is so unknown to most modern listeners, but so good to listen to. I never knew acoustic guitar could be so compelling! If you like any kind of guitar music, you must buy this. And something from Seasick Steve. Something fresh at last.

Rodrigo and Gabriela are a force of nature, a force to be reckoned with, a tour de force, they are the dark side of the force, they are... well, forceful's the wrong word. While they are certainly powerful, they are also sublime.
For the uninitiated, this Mexican duo have carved out a niche for themselves by playing what many describe (inaccurately in my opinion) as 'Mariachi Metal'. This demeans what they have actually done though, which is bring a breath of fresh air and an immediacy to acoustic guitar music which I have never experienced before. Absolutely fantastic. I heard them for the first time on a first date a few weeks ago and thought them brilliant - I only hope that I'll be able to play just as well once I've gotten to grips with my guitar! Once again, fantastic!
