the music great especially when the first time you see the film.
ive been able to relate to the films from the beginning but this one is by far the most emotional. the music puts across so many feelings that made me cry 4times throughout. buy the CD after youve watched the film or you wont get the entire impact of the music. >>More Details |

I have to agree with the writer of the 1-star review that the actress who plays Elphaba on Broadway (and is featured on the cd) definitely has a disappointing voice compared to the West End actress. However, I do think that the actors playing Glinda and the Wizard, in contrast, have a better voice on Broadway, compensating a little for Elpahaba. I really do hope that a West End version of this cd will become available at some point.

I've been a soundtrack enthusiast since I was a boy, and as with many who share my passion the Indiana Jones soundtracks have long been amongst the most beloved and yet still frustrating albums I have owned.
Of course, John Williams' classic mix of brassy heroism, muscular action and broad romantic motifs need no introduction - a perfect mix of 1930s musical idioms and contemporary pace and styling. But for so long we had to endure cut down selections on album, with so many great cues missing. I saw Nitin play in Bristol in early November 2008 and he gave the best performance of the 5 times I have seen him. A delicate and sensitive gig, with Nitin mainly playing acoustic guitar, accompanied by some sublime cello playing and indian flute and tabla playing - all mixed with dreamy singing. This album reflects all that. A true concept album - a 45 minute journey through life today. Such a wide variety of influnces - how wrong the last reviewer is! This is a great Nitin album,and I've loved him from the start. Turn it on, lie back on the sofa and let yourself drift away.

This CD is great but not top notch there are a few bits of music missing the interview with the music writers is a rare insight to what they do and what can happen.
Most of the songs are here but some aren't but it is still enjoyable CD and the interview is a nice extra there is another Mary Poppins CD out there which has every bit of music on it. >>More Details |

Overall, a good soundtrack, with nice references back to Casino Royale. But, where on earth is the end credits music? It's missing. Shame on Sony, as this was great.

I purchased these CDs individually as and when they were originally released. I have to say that the Fellowship of the Ring is my favourite, by the way. However, I also bought the extremely deluxe 4 disc (or in the case of ROTK, 5 disc) sets when the 'complete' scores were released (also worth buying, despite their price). One thing the 'complete' scores don't have is the first track from FOTR - "The Prophecy" (though parts of it exist in the 'complete' score). If you're a soundtrack enthusiast, then small variations or alternate takes presented here in the 'limited' 1-disc releases will interest you. In The Two Towers, for example, you here different mixes and end of cues not heard in the 'complete' scores, the same stands for Return of the King. And if like ... Read More:

As has already been said - notably by reviewer 'Flowers in the window', this CD will only hang together if you've seen and want a reminder of the film. The first 3 tracks exemplify this:
(1) quasi-classical music overlaid with a narration. (2) classical orchestral piece that morphs into a rock song. (3) a strangely ethereal version of 'Moondance' which sounds if it's being heard from a long way away. (Which, in the film, it is). If none of that makes any sense, then you haven't seen the film and the CD is unlikely to make much sense. But if you have seen the movie, then you'll realise that this soundtrack IS what you heard during the film. It isn't (as is so often the case) a jumble of extracts.
