I've been an Enya fan for twenty years and the thing that you can never mistake is the unique "Enya" sound and the wonderful calming effect it can give the listener. Her music has got me through some very stressful times in my life.
Although a winter and Christmas themed album I truly feel this can be played at any time of year and would still sound great. Having said that, this album really does capture the feeling of frost and snow-covered fir trees etc.
The tracks are varied with a nice selection of soft slow tracks along with the more up tempo ones. Of the latter ones, I challenge anyone not to have "Trains and Winter Rains" going around in their head for days! For me, one of the most beautiful tracks has to ... Read More:

This is a terrific CD, with its wild meld of celtic, pop, folk, and country strains. The Chieftains, accompanied by such music greats as Sting, Mick Jagger, Sinead O'Connor, The Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithfull, Tom Jones, Van Morrison, among others...who would have thought such an assemblage would result in such a cohesive recording of such wildly divergent music? Of particular note are Sting's mournful rendition of "Mo Ghile Mear" and Sinead O'Connor's stylization of "The Foggy Dew" and "He Moved Through The Fair". Mick Jagger also does justice to "A Long Black Veil". This CD is simply a great recording overall!

Recently went to the NEC (awful venue) to see Joe Bonamassa (recommended). Imelda was the support and she was absolutley brilliant -what a superb voice. I wasn't into her style of rockabilly/skiffle/blues at all, but her voice made the long wait for JB totally tolerable.

I got this before going to see Van Morrison Live at Symphony Hall. The CD made up for the lack of known songs sung by Van in his live performance. It was a strange affair, he did not speak to the audience and performed a very self indulgant show. However I can't fault the CD it is great.

Rodrigo y Gabriela, these are two of the most exiting and awesome acoustic guitarists around.Their music is so wide ranging, and for just two the sound they create is quite simply stunning. From the main stage at Glastonbury where they went down a storm to this set recorded in Japan on a recent tour.Material includes Dave Brubeck's Take Five (hard enough for a quartet let alone just two),Led Zeps Stairway To Heaven (you've really got to hear it to believe it).Their music is melodic at times, very firey at other times.Gabriela beating out rhythms on her guitars body while Rodrigo plays anything from rock to spanish to jazz and pretty well all points in between. The great bonus of this truly wonderful CD is the bonus DVD which contains five of the album tracks and ... Not heard the VHS Video in a while but this is so much better! Sound quality not the best on a DVD but a vast improvement on VHS. More songs, about 20 mins extra and Bono hasn't yet learned his stage craft. The Edge looks very un-rockstar as does Adam with his curly hair, Larry looks like he's still in (primary) school and Bono has the most ridiculuous hairdo (even by his standards).
I could have done without Surrender & Seconds but the rest of the songs are storming, from Out of Control through to 40. This is a very loud DVD, so turn it up and destroy the neighbourhood! U2 when they were little!
