Unfortunately, this album contains a cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', a song which about the pain of sexual love. Katherine turns it into an anodyne, passionless 'hymn', devoid of the heartache that made Jeff Buckley's cover so perfect. A tragic waste of her talents. Yet another example of how 'crossovers' don't work. Avoid. (It isn't even an aria!).

How wonderful that Andrea has left the "Vegas type" songs behind!! This album is superb and we listened to it 3 times in succession before stopping. Every song (old & new to us) was up to the high standard we expect and love to hear. These are the type of popular semi-operatic songs that Andrea can sing so much better than old Englebert hits!

This compilation is one of a handful of compilations Cliff Richard's Chart Hits evolve from his hundred plus hits. As it happens 50 have been chosen for this 2CD compilation highlighting a remarkable 50 year span Career! AND this compilation is no exception to former 'Greatest Hits' from yester years.
The music on this double CD is just sheer classic hits, they just keep on coming!
I am also a keen 'music' listener to the ears and the CD sound quality on this CD is a major let down, because many of Cliff's classics have all been recorded in stereo (Listen to 40 Golden Greats 2CD) but here they are in mono!! why? This is 2008! They sound like cleaned up 7" vinyl with a hint of psuedo stereo, synthesize tiny effect. Very badly ... Read More:

Mr Watson is a singer, pure and simple. There is nothing this man cannot sing. I would recommend him singing a shopping list, he's so good here.
A classic set of songs with a new and refreshing take on soul as never before heard. People Get Ready gives us another delightful collection of classics with a voice that cannot be matched and phrasing that only Russell can do with such clarity.
Thanks Russell, I recommend this to every music fan.

This is a great album - head and shoulders above many other cross over attempts that are around at the moment. It demonstrates not only Jonathan Ansell's amazing vocal range but his growing richness of tone and emotional interpretation that marks him as one of the up an coming world class tenors - and bodes well for many future albums!
High points for me are Amor Tio Vieta , Canto Della Terra, Libiamo and Hoppipolla - the latter being a Sigur Ros track that is an absolute gem.
As with any album - there may be a couple that for personal taste come lower down the 'play it again' scale - possibly Hearts of England has the least effect on my pulse rate - not because of the quality of the singing but the quality of the song - not ... Read More:

This is a welcome return to form for Tom Jones. The whole album has a conceptual feel to it with excellent musicianship and there is not a single bad track. I particularly like the opening track, I'm Alive, but there isn't a dud to be seen........... he may be knocking on in years but the freshness is still there. The consummate professional and all the more enjoyable for that.
