I have never been into classical music, however the TV programs Maestro and Last Choir standing (I know trash TV... sorry) made me realise I did like some classical music. So time to test that theory, and of course this CD fitted the bill perfectly, a bit of everything and 99% you will probably know. Good album, maybe I may have discovered culture :-)

My knowledge of classical music is not so advanced, but it is a breed of music you must learn to appreciate if you get what I mean. I am to keen to expand my knowledge of classical music, so buying this album is a great starting point. Classical music is a breed of music which existed long time ago and is really old fashioned, but a real pleasure to listen to. It is very much instrumental orientated. You can hear the piano, violin or the flute with their distinctive sounds in the background.
The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the World is an excellent album featuring and honouring the talents of all the major acts to embrace their names in classical music combined in four CDs. Remember The Four Seasons, Fantasia, Concerto For ... Read More:

"The Mission" score demonstrates Ennio's mastery of dramatic music, characterised by texture, depth, emotion, turmoil, innovative orchestration (even counterpoint), layered with beautiful and original melodies that would make Puccini proud. On the other hand, there was room in the movie for 1 or 2 more original pieces to go with Gabriel's Oboe, Ave Maria Guarani, Brothers, and the River. Nevertheless, the Italian man is a genius.
I was really disappointed when listening to these recordings. I had an old recording of Morricone on a tape, which I love, and thought I was to find the same on this CD. But the interpretations are really different (I agree with one of the previous comments), and are far from carrying the same emotions.
Don't do like me, and listen to the song samples to make sure this is what you want.

The Voice, released in May 2001, is Russell Watson's debut album and marks the end of his progression from the pub and club circuit, and the start of his recording career after signing with the Decca label.
The album hit No.1 in the UK Classical charts and reached No.5 in the UK Album Chart. Following its release in the US it also hit the top spot, making history as the first time a British artist has topped both the UK and US Classical Charts, and if that wasn't enough, it was awarded `Album of the Year' and 'Best Selling Classical Album' at the Classical BRIT awards in 2001.
The songs are a mix of classical and popular, with the emphasis on the classics to enable its eligibility for that chart: 60% of the playing ... Read More:

This CD represents a terrific crosssection of Ennio Morricone's music and is probably the only CD of his you will need to buy. I have been a fan of Ennio Morricone for 25 years and can honestly say that this selection contains some of most haunting and moving music I have ever heard. Ennio Morricone in my opinion ranks alongside the greatest of classical composers.

Morricone's music evokes the the films for which the pieces were written - passionate and strong themes. But Yo Yo Ma's interpretation makes the passion soothing and the cello is perfectly suited to the themes. I don't normally like re-workings of film music because I believe that the original music is inextricably linked to the visual images of the film in my memory. However, I often listen to this CD after I return home from work, when I want to calm down and leave my preoccupations at the doorstep. It is relaxing and uplifting at the same time. Thank you Yo-Yo and Ennio for this brilliant idea to join your talents.

Soundtracks from movies can disappoint, however, this is one that just inspires the listener to enter a melancholy mood and the haunting refrains linger like smoke circles in a room. This is one soundtrack that never gets boring, but produces visions of once upon a time in America. The movie is good too!
