Classic soundtrack. This album has everything. Kenny Loggins establishes himself as the master of powerful, catchy 80s cheese with the immense Danger Zone and fun-as-you-like Playing With The Boys. Berlin's Take My Breath Away is possibly THE greatest ballad of all time. Harold Faltermeyer's Top Gun Anthem is about as moving a piece of music can be. A must have.

The songs on this extended soundtrack showcase not only the famous tracks ( eg Berlin , Kenny Loggins ) , but have also added in ( for the deluxe edition ) the original Righteous Brothers version of "..Lovin' Feeling" amongst other tracks . Upon listening to the album again , I felt right back in the 80's ( for some people a good thing , for others a bad one ! ) and I realise that the tracks on this album really do seem to signify that whole time in music and I can just see the shoulder pads , shiny suits , ripped jeans , peroxide hairdo's ....etc
For those of a more musical nature , the instrumental Top Gun Anthem by Harold 'Axel F' Faltemeyer and Steve Stevens ( guitarist with Billy Idol ) features some ... Read More:

..and I'd stand by that comment, through and through. This is a good album, catchy and well worth listening to. The music's rhythmic and dancy, the tracks are actually featured in the film, and the lyrics are ones to sing along to. There are tracks you'll recognise - Glenn Frey and The Heat Is On; the Axel F synth theme itself - and tracks you'll know to have become famous having been in the movie. But there lies the problem. They would have been chart releases nearly twenty years ago. We'd have danced to them and heard them on the radio - back in 1984. These would have been great songs to own, if you'd been buying them at the time vinyl was in its prime. But as it is, if you purchase this CD now, you'll be paying however much for songs ... A much under-rated artist, Faltermeyer is the composer of soundtracks such as Beverly Hills Cop I & II and Top Gun. Track seven, Bad Guys, is an example of his work on the Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack, adapted as it is from an instrumental track from the film. This album allows him to work with such people as Keith Forsey, Patti LaBelle and Scott Wilk. Five stars are really not enough for this album. A fine example of Eighties music and a must for anyone who is a fan of Faltermeyer or Keith Forsey. Best tracks are Prophecy, Bad Guys and Hunger Of Love.
