Much has been made of this album and the singles lifted from it, particularly the now grating 'Mercy' (surely a candidate for most annoying pop single of the year). Dont get me wrong I quite liked this when I heard it for the very first time but after a being force fed it by the radio several times I suddenly realised how weak it was. Its trying too hard to be something it is not ie a classic 60's pop song, its simply a pale approximation.
How she has been compared to the legendary Dusty Springfield is one of lifes great mysteries it must surely be simply a visual thing. Otherwise its like comparing cheap wool with silk. Will she be remembered in 30 years time? I doubt it.
This has to be one of the best albums I have bought in a long time. Every track is good usually there is always a couple of songs that don't do it for you but every track is great.
Having now heard her album, to compare her to Lily Allen is a travesty. Adele is far better, her smooth voice and song writing skill for starters...
And whilst we're on the subject of comparisons, there's only one similarity to Amy Winehouse - and that is I love both of their albums, when my expectations were low.
Daydreamer: A chilled, melodic start to her debut album, but on first listen you kinda want to skip it to speed up your new listening experience. This is definitely one of those tracks you have to listen to a few times. Vocally she is very good.
Best For Last: Sounds quite bluesy, simple yet effective guitar backing throughout the beginning. Then the song gets going, catchy, warming and just simply easy to listen ... Read More:

it wasn't until Disturbia and Take A Bow that i became a fan of this smashing R n B star....and i saw this album for a great pice and i got it.
Umbrella was an awesome lead single but it didn't persuade me to buy the album the first time round.
but now this release was out...i had to get it....and my gosh is it an amazing album.
it's the equivalent of Michael Jacksons' THRILLER album...amazing stuff.
Madonna did it with Like A Prayer....now Rihanna the r n b equivalent has done it...and made it entirely personal and extremely enjoyable.
while Britney Spears CIRCUS is gonna knock it off the top spot as the album of 2008(i'm sure it may do so as Womanizer is spectacular)...for now Good Girl Gone Bad is definately the album of the year just matched ... Read More:

This is rnb at its worse..bland style hip hop/rnb beats over a good singers voice..the boy can sing for sure but apart from "take you down" and "with you" the quality control on this album is appalingly bad. i was actually listening to some 70's and 80's rnb today and it reminded me of how bad some modern soul/rnb is these days..theres no melody or musicality to most of the tracks. With you is a great track though but this isnt great at all.

WELCOME TO THE ALESHA SHOW
Well isn't this a fab opener to the album - I do prefer the extended version, because it has some awesome lyrics like "iTunes straight to your iPhone" - I love it! This is something that I could see on "Fired Up" as well, cos it has that raw edginess that was present on Fired Up, but also the combination of the showmanship-ness (???) that is present on "The Alesha Show".
LET'S GET EXCITED
Wow, the wow-ness keeps improving! This track is sooo strong, I really hope its released as a single because I can see the appeal in the song - it has the singing, a bit of the MCing and just all round happiness! I love the beat, its really poppy and sticks in your head for aages! The lyrics are yet again so silly and fun and 'tounge-in-cheek' ... Read More:

Since his great debut album Dedicated i found his last 2 albums (with the exception of the lead singles) disappointing with many fillers. Not quite knowing what to expect with his latest release The Reason......I have to say its his best work to date. From start to finish its a great listen. Absolute quality! Every song is a winner.....Over You has to be a single!!
