Well I think this NOW cd has a great track listing, maybe not quite as good as NOW 69, but very close in my opinion! I don't know why they included 'Scooter - Jumping All over the World' on here, along with a few other songs I have never heard of...but the other great tracks make it only a small negative! I think it's a shame that Madonna won't allow her tracks on here, as 4 minutes is a very popular song that would have been great on NOW 70.

I bought this and put it in the car before a driving holiday so listened to it many times through over a couple of weeks. My first reaction was disappointment except for the two singles and then as time passed, I found myself loving the whole album more and more. It needs to be played loud and it needs to be played several times to get the full appreciation.
I still stand by my view that Chris Martin isn't a brilliant singer but the skill is making the best of what you've got and he certainly milks every drop from the (limited) talent he has (and fair play to him for that!) Some parts of the album sound a little like things we have heard from others - some is really U2 but what shines through is the contribution at beginning and end from Jon Hopkins ... Read More:

I had never seen the stage show, nor was I much familiar with ABBA songs (except for the obligatory Dancing Queen at every cheesy party). Seeing the film however transformed my perceptions completely - no wonder the show is such a worldwide phenomenon! I just had to get the soundtrack after that.

The actors are not the world's best singers (Pierce Brosnan leaves a lot to be desired), but their slightly amateur sound just adds to the feel-good factor that it doesn't even matter. I have compared the CD to the Original London Recording of the stage show, but still prefer the movie version. It is perhaps the fact that these non-singers are all trying so hard, that it just brings a smile to your face.

Among the cast, Amanda Seyfried is ... Read More:

I heard 'Mercy' and I loved it; I still do. I waited for her album to be released, and was ultimately disappointed. Her voice is fantastic, but the sound of the album is too samey. The standout tracks are:

Mercy
Stepping Stone

Apart from that, it's all a bit boring and samey. Her lyrics and vocals are great, it's just the music that needs to be more upbeat. Still worth a try if you like 'Mercy' - but but warned - the album sounds nothing like the single.

Steeleye Span meet America in a wonderful synthesis. There's not a bad track on this album which drips with haunting melodies. Best band of the new Millennium IMHO.....'White Winter Hymnal' is the Koh-I Noor of the jewel box........

With interest in ABBA once again at a premium, thanks to the Mamma Mia Film and hugely successful musical, it's not surprising that this collection is once again at the top of the UK album charts and cruising to 26 million sales. ABBA themselves have'nt been a functioning band since 1982 when they released their last studio album The Visitors.
Time has been kind to the lagacy of the group and they now enjoy the kind of critical and commercial success afforded to true legends - Beatles, Queen, Who - where once they were considered sugary sweet and europap.
Gold is the perfect compilation collecting together all the major hits and presenting them, not in chronological order, but sequenced to construct a simply great listen.
The songs of Benny & Bjorn ... Read More:

Having had to endure this poor excuse for a band at Glastonbury, i thought i would give them a second go and borrowed my sisters cd, it is truely awful. I am not articulate or smart enough to do justice to how bad this album is. An album of cats screaming and children crying would of been more enjoyable.

The band themselves seem to have been styled by the stylest from Skins, whom was having a bad day, or maybe the band upset her. But they look like every other idiot from St Martins, whom wants too "fit in". Waste your money if you must, but be aware that you are merely jumping on the hype and one catchy track. If you think that you will listen to this album more then once then you are deluded and deaf. Truely truely awful!!!!!!

Having only been a fan of Texas for the last 8 years or so, it feels as though I have almost watched their slow descent - their last two albums, CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR and REDBOOK seemed not to get the appreciation they deserved, so it was with a little trepidation that I purchased Sharleen's first solo outing. Having now had the album for a week, I can heartily say that I should not have worried. MELODY is brilliant.

The opening track, "It Was You" is a fantastic way to open an album. Although it is a breakup song, the uptempo beat means that it is not depressing. And this track really sets a precdent for the ones to come - the mood is set. As others have already said, there is a very obvious retro feel to the album, and the vast majority of songs are about relationships ... Read More:

Some people are claiming this to be the album of the summer but having listened to them and bought it. They're are wrong! It's more like the album of the year! There are some big titles to come out later on in the year though so maybe I'll eat my words...

SSK is an instantly likeable album - no 'you'll come to like it' going on here. No weak tunes in the 13 strong tracklist and at last we have an album this year that isn't short.

It's my first Elbow album and I'll be sure to check out their previous work now.

This CD and the film its taken from has become a phenomenon. The children of Agape and their amazing, uplifting, harmonious voices have wowed audiences across the globe. I saw them sing with Annie Lennox at the Mandela 90th birthday concert and pre-ordered the 'We Are Together' DVD straight away.

When so many things in the world are sombre and dark; this music really will lift your soul and make you realise how much hope and optimism is out there.

Buy the CD. You won't regret it - and play your part in one of most talked about films of the year.
