Unpromoted which is a shame, Thanks to Amazon This Compilation is easy to obtain. As an OMD fan from thier early days this a must for all collectors. I bought this for the DVD alone but I am sure the Cd will get some use. Excellent purchase for any music fan as this Band have infuenced so many over the years. Great to see them on thier reunion Tour. And may they continue to please thier fans for years to come, Timeless.

in my opinion this is the best of all the pink albums there is, "im not dead" is very good too, but this one is so cool and every single on of the songs is brilliant! pink is so cool!

My son knowing I am and always will be a huge Clapton fan, bought this for my last birthday (I don't mean my LAST bithday, I am hoping to have many more!) I would not have gone and purchased this myself, as within my CD collection I have all of these tracks and could have made up this compilation myself. Having said that it is a good collection (how many Clapton collections have there been over the years?). The two discs represent a reasonable selection of the mans work, although I would have liked some of his early stuff with John Mayall and even The Yardbirds, perhaps Blind Faith, just to round the collection out. Nowadays critical consensus often ranks this as The Beatles' best album, and indeed one of the best albums ever made. While it's only my second favourite by them personally (The White Album being first), this is still one of the greatest albums I own.
Revolver is the point where The Beatles ceased to be a pop group and became something else entirely. Shortly after its release they gave up touring, having tired of performing to screaming fans when they'd much rather be holed away in a recording studio making new music. This also allowed them to be more experimental, recording sounds that could never have been recreated in stadiums and arenas at the time. Grace Jones relativley short music career never really hit the heights of success it often deserved. Her first three disco albums, PORTFOLIO (1977), FAME (1978) and MUSE (1979) were fairly forgetable although they did spawn at least one memroable track per album - all of which make there way onto this definitive compilation of Grace Jones work. LA VIE EN ROSE, I NEED A MAN and DO OR DIE had that early Grace Jones disco sound which was quickly abandoned in 1980 prior to the release of one of her very best albums, WARM LEATHERETTE, which succesfully combined the sounds of New Wave, reggae, rock and funk. This album is, despite only being a year old, classic Eagles, and one of their best. It was worth the wait, as although it's polished and sounds perfect, it is full of raw, real emotions, and every line is delivered with that feeling as a driving force.
I was also impressed they kept the momentum going with two discs, 21 tracks in fact, of consistently beautiful music, each song speaking directly to me as a listener and making me believe everything they're singing. This is also a brilliant showcase of the different genres covered, from pure heartbreak as we can hear in I Don't Want To Hear Any More, to catchy, commercial almost pop sounds in How Long, to folkier music in No More Walks In The Wood, and a few others in between. Great album with all my favourite tracks. How disappointed I was though with the revamped new vocal for Wuthering Heights. It was overproduced too much backing and Kate's voice dare I say did sound rather tinny and harsh. The rest of the tracks are super Cloudbusting is great and all my old favourites. I must track down the original wuthering Heights as I have them all on vinyl but not CD. >>More Details |
