This is a great collection of Buddy Guy's Chicago recordings, & they really hit the spot. The guitar playing is wonderful, but not as wild as it should have been due to views of taste from the time!
This is still a superb CD and well worth getting.

Described by John Peel as " The foremost white Blues guitarist in the world ", Gordon is also one of the country's greatest Blues vocalists.
His 1968 debut album 'Long Overdue' was produced by Mike Vernon for the legendary Blue Horizon label, and featured members of Fleetwood Mac, including Peter Green. For years this album has been a collector's classic, but it is now it has been re-released by Mike Vernon along with other vintage Blue Horizon recordings.
During the 70's,Gordon was a member of 'The Kevin Coyne Band' with whom he recorded several albums for Virgin, as well as a couple of his own for the Italian label Appaloosa, and in the 90's a solo country Blues album 'Out ... Read More:

Well, what can I say? The track listing says it all! John Mayall, Hipster Image, The Birds.... absolutely stunning. Any fan of 60's R&B will love this compilation, which features some pricey and/or rare records. It's absolutely brilliant, a must buy album for mods.

I have a few of Eric Clapton's albums plus a few he's recorded in other bands and 'Slowhand' typifies how frustrating he is. Rightly regarded as one of the greatest rock guitarists, he never seems to produce an album about which you can say, 'That's the one.' Instead, what you get are a handful of brilliant gems and an equal measure of forgettable, if competent, workouts.
The three heavyweight tracks appear at the front of the album. 'Cocaine' has never been one of my favourite songs, but he does deliver it with impressive force. 'Wonderful Tonight' worked its way into the public consciousness over many years and is the kind of tender song that's difficult to pull off without sounding watery. 'Lay Down Sally' deserves more recognition, in my opinion. The ... Read More:

Well, that's becuase this is the album that really shaped alot of today's guitar greats, Mark Knopfler for one, & was soooo hard to get back in the bad old days of vinyl.
Back in the early 70's, there really were so few opportunities to catch decent blues albums that this offering was considered to be essential listening.
So, if you want to experience the sounds that shaped many a blues players' style, look no further; although, there are now much better offerings to be had out there.

Whilst I have no argument with the music on this album, it's all great stuff, if you are hoping to hear the great man introducing each track, then think again "he's NOT there" and this is a great disappointment. I had expected from the album description that it would contain those wonderful insights that Bob Dylan is so good at when introducing the tracks, that's why I can only give it three stars.
