Katherine Jenkins first impressed me when I heard her sing O Holy Night on the BBC. This new album is excellent, more in the style of her earlier albums Premiere & Second Nature then last year's Rejoice. I have listened to this brilliant album several times now.
I am glad that she has returned to songs and music that suit her voice best, a voice that is growing in richness and depth. >>More Details |

The tracks by Coldplay and Keene are excellent....my heart and soul and eyes shed a tear of joy, brilliant music, re-created into an excellent classical arrangement...I hope they do some more!!!!

Hayley Westenra, what a fantastic voice. But she sould be singing classical tracks, instead of corny old numbers like Danny Boy.

It's common to find good value box sets from labels such as EMI Classics, Brilliant Classics and Warner Classics, but not so often on the Sony label. In general, the bigger the set the better the value, with collections of more than ten discs often falling into the bargain category of under £1 a disc. This collection though represents not only value for money but also provides pretty much all of Stravinsky's lifetime works (he composed around 127 pieces) in a compact box of just 5cm width thanks to the CDs being supplied in card sleeves. Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music!

I will admit that when I first saw the track listing for this CD, I felt disappointed. "Come on!" I thought, "Katherine should be more original than this! Practically every soprano records 'O Mio Babbino Caro' at one point or another, and here are two common songs from the classical crossover genre, 'Nella Fantasia' and 'The Prayer'. Should I even invest in something that will only be a re-hash of things I have already heard many times?" In the end however, I decided that even with the unimaginative song selections, I would buy this CD.
I am very glad I did! There are so many gems here that I now consider this Katherine's best album. Surprisingly, "Nella Fantasia" instantly became a favorite of mine. Her rich, warm tones really brought this song to life in a way ... Read More: >>More Details |

My wife (for whom I bought it) says that this CD set is very restful and soothing and I have to say that I quite like to hear the singing in the background whilst I slave away at the computer. And, of course, the great thing is that we got two CDs for about the price of one. Excellent!

Well this is my first review on anything,so it must count for something.
I got this last week and must off played it at least 6 times in the car. It's a joy to drive ! Thank you Classic FM for introducing me to this excellent album,and thank you to the honest reviews from the customers who had the sense to buy it. The tunes are all different,not as some say the same,they grow on you. A tune has been going through my head all afternoon and is as I type! I'm not complaining.
