Coming just 2 years after Taylor's last album of covers songs (James Taylor at Christmas, itself a reissue of the 2004 Hallmark James Taylor Xmas Cd) and a year after the unplugged live album, this new album again highlights how indifferent Taylor's career has been. Once memorably described as a purveyor of counter culture melodies, Taylor never recaptured the heights of his Sweet Baby James album of 1970. The rest of the '70's saw Taylor settle into an easy pattern of having hits with other peoples songs whilst having very few self penned hits (and this guy was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame??!!) Quite how he's managed to sustain a career over 40 years is anyone's guess but the guy must have some pretty good publicists who are to ... Read More:

Fantastic DVD of what might be called his greatest hits concert. Not a poor song anywhere in sight. I particularly like 'Awake' and 'Remember When It Rained' and the 'duet' of Lucia Micarelli (violin) and Vanessa Fairburn Smith (cello) performing 'Kashmir' - absolutely stunning!!
Pour yourself a drink and chill: again and again and again ...ALL FOR LESS THAN £8!!!

I heard this album, whilst on holiday in Girona (Spain).
It is a must buy album. Even if you can't understand Spanish, she has a wonderful voice. It has a contemporary-jazzy sound without losing the traditional Espanic feeling. thanks for readind DaveyT.

Walk on water! Certainly not for me (despite the cover!)
Mr Vesey is spot on. The lad is indeed nasal, thin, and sadly mediocre. It's my own fault. I bought this - having read the reviews - and despite my reservations about, shall we say, the vaguest whiff of choreography!
Hence the one star! I'll know better next time!

In the weeks leading up to the release of their debut single, Wannabe, the music channel The Box played the fun video to the single 70 times a week. The single went into the charts at number 3 and then went up to number 1 and stayed there for 7 weeks. This was the start of the phenomenon called the Spice Girls. Five sassy, in-yer-face girls, well packaged with clever nick names and destined to be the biggest selling girl group of all time.
Their legacy includes 3 great pop albums (Spice, Spiceworld, Forever) and
Spiceworld: The Movie which topped the UK video charts on its first week of release, selling over 55,000 copies on its first day in the shops.
All the groups singles are here in this compilation - the first six of which were all ... Read More:

When you are looking for something you can sit and listen to with lights dimmed and drink at hand, then this is surely it. Sinatra's voice is at its expressive best, so much so, if you close your eyes you could be on the next bar stool.
A superb colection of saloon songs that ranks among Sinatra's best.

It's not as bad as Paul thinks, but he's mostly right the only songs that have any life at all are right at the end and he probably didn't endure the banality to listen that far. 'What it takes to win' & 'turn down the world tonight' have a little more gumption than the rest of this feeble offering and just happen to be the ones where the new singer isn't trying to mimic the old singer. 'The Journey' is an instrumental nod to their 70's incarnation and isn't too bad. As for the positive reviews this has recieved from others, I can only imagine they are desperate for Journey to keep going no matter what banal tripe they push out, listen to some classic albums from journey, this just doesn't make the grade. I want Journey to continue but with quality songs, most of these are not, stop pretending ... Read More:

I didn't buy this album because it would have been pointless, i already own all of the songs from buying the last greatest hits album. Of course there's no denying that the vocals are astounding, but this wouldn't change no matter how many collections she brought out. I believe this album is the best choice for anyone who is just getting introduced to Whitney Houston, as it only contains the main songs that she's known for full stop, there are certainly no fillers or remixes it's just the very best of Whitney, but for fans such as me, who've followed her though each album from beginning to end are yearning for some new material, and are getting very board with collection after collection.
