I first heard this album back in the summer of 1982 and it sounds as good now as it did then. I was already familiar with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) and I'd heard bits of Highway to Hell and Back in Black but this was what converted me. The songs on this album are infantile, puerile, barely adolescent... and absolutely brilliant.
From the crash-bang-thump intro to the swaggering title track to the fade out at the end of the distinctly sleazy and tasteless Squealer this is pure, unbridled rock'n'roll joy. The album is full to the brim with classic tracks: the sleazy Love at First Feel, the behind-the-bike-shed single-entendre-laden Big Balls, Rocker and Problem Child ("...and my mother hates me!") coming on like Chuck ... you're too old - no excuses. This album makes Metallica sound average, dated and out of ideas. The Blister Exists is the best metal tune I've heard in at least a decade - buy it for that if nothing else. This CD is the sonic equivalent of an 18 wheeler crashing through your frontroom while you're eating your tea.

I have been listening to Mike Oldfield since Tubular Bells and own every single piece he has ever produced including all the singles (who remembers Guilty, William Tell Overture, Froggy went a Courting?) Over the years Mike has reached musical brilliance but has sometimes, I think in an effort to be different, slightly missed the mark. (I found Guitars a bit disappointing)Although I keep in mind what Tolkien said about his book, in that what altogether was loved by some readers was sometimes hated by others. So it is also for Mike - but this is one of his finest pieces. When you first hear it you latch onto the familiar haunting Tubular Bells riff that sometimes appears but, like many of his other albums - what appears strange at 1st, grows on you until you eventually ... I find this album absolutely hilairious and the lyrics are random in a funny way. The guitar is ok but the quality of singing is not meaningful enough and Tenacious D should take out thos ear piercing notes in tribute etc.

She'd taped a cool new song off the radio, a friend told me some 30 years ago; she'd play it for me when I'd come to her place after school.
The song was "Hotel California," and my perception of music changed then and there, once and for all. I didn't even really understand the lyrics -- I had barely begun to learn English, and apart from everything else I sure as hell didn't know what "colitas" meant. But understanding all the song's words wasn't necessary. From the first chords played by Felder and Walsh, this song was different from anything I had ever heard before. The layers of electric guitar riffs alternating with and ornamenting Don Henley's vocals, soaring in the chorus and culminating in a moving and evocative duet, touched a spot deep inside me ... I bought this when it was first released on vinyl and video...and it is just as impeccable now. One of the greatest tours from one of the greatest bands, this gig stands the test of time and countless....and I DO mean countless....viewings. Metal at its finest.

As this is a greatest hits album I knew what I was getting before I bought it so obviously there was no disappointment there. The songs that are on it are great, some of my favourites.
But personally there are so many more songs that I would have liked to be on there. I don't know if the answer is a double album or replacing some of the songs on this album.
It's still a good album though.

This is even better than the first soundtrack and i love every single song. Very pleased to see Bethany's Halo on here, that girl needs to release an album of her own soon. Other highlights are songs by Nada Surf, Jacks Mannequin and Fall Out Boy, who all have guest starred in One Tree Hill. My personal favourite would be recurring guest star Tyler Hiltons cover of 'Missing you', it is truly amazing and i am now a great fan of Tyler Hilton based purely on his efforts in this series as he isn't well known in the UK.

Yes, The Fray do sound very much like others of their genre but this isn't a bad thing if, like me, you're a fan of this sort of music anyway. I bought the album on the strength of the single How To Save A Life and the reviews already posted here. I am glad I did.
The music is punchy and catchy with some really profound lyrics which have been well thought out. Over My Head, How To Save A Life, All At Once, Look After You and Dead Wrong are my personal favourites.
