Blink 182 were one of the first bands i got into because of my brothers. It was these sort of bands like, Blink, The Offspring, Green Day and Sum 41 that got me into the "rock" side of music when i was about 7 or 8ish. I'm now more into Punk Punk, instead of pop punk. But i cant slate this because it was my gateway band and i do still listen to these occasionaly.
OK so its pop-punk, but who cares? It sounds good, their pretty darn good musicians aswell!

1980's 'The River' can probably be regarded as Bruce Springsteen's first move toward a more commercial sound. After years of sober epics punctuated by the occasional radio-friendly song, he turned out a stack of uptempo three-minute songs. Eight of the first nine tracks on this album are in that style. Far from being routine love songs, however, they feature Springsteen's vivid turn of phrase and odd storylines. On 'Sherry Darling', for instance, the subject threatens to throw his girlfriend's mother out of his car. The impassioned 'Jackson Cage' (well, his songs usually are impassioned) is a highlight, while 'Hungry Heart' is an obvious single, if a relatively unsuccessful one. Fans might balk at the gooey 'I Wanna Marry You', but the plaintive ... Read More:

Vincent Crane was a talented musician and songwriter, but it is the untalented and unmusical guitar thrashings of John Du Cann that raise this album up to five stars.

Just try listening to Sleeping For Years without wetting yourself.

To discover that Crane dumped Du Cann because he (Crane) wanted a sound more like James Brown is simply the icing on the cake that is this riotously fun and hugely charming album.

It's not all outrageous, camp fun. This album is also laced with Crane's interesting work; especially Nobody Else, which in spite of Mr Du Cann's contributions, is a real gem. Also worth a listen are songs like VUG and Gersatzer, which are songs very much of their time.

An absolute must have ... Read More:

In a discussion recently I remarked to a friend how Nine Inch Nails are the only band who [in my opinion] have never made a bad album. However, I now take my comment back. While the production of the album is first rate, the songs fall far from the industrial noise come conceptual evolutions that have propelled Trent Reznor through the last decades. The opening track (999,999) gives intriguing promise, only to give way to the disappointing melodic electronica that doesn't subside. There is one diamond in the rough though; The Four of us in Here Are Dying. However this instrumental is not enough to rescue the sinking ship that is 'the slip'. Ultimately this album feels little more than Trent Reznor and friends jamming in their studio. Full marks for being bold ... Read More:

Ordered this directly from the distributor (hence why I have it before the UK release date), and it truly is a brilliant set to have. The artwork is top-notch (no surprise, coming from artist Jhonen Vasquez), it includes all of the art he did for the album (including the cover of the deluxe version) in high resolution quality and is worth buying just for this reason alone.

The album itself is pretty good, though no-where near as good as YRTA, FGWSSS or Tight, but passable, despite a few throwaway tracks. The overall arrangement seems a lot better as well, with a reworked track listing spread across two Vinyl disks.

The main complaint I have is how, unfortunately the vinyl is treated as a second-hand product by the producers of the set, who made ... Read More:

Doesn't matter how many 'best ofs' you buy, you still need to hear Queen and Queen II to understand what they were like when some of us were lucky enough to see them perform in university music venues before they became a supergroup. I loved this album then and I love it now. You don't need a video of their amazing stage performances to enjoy it just as music. Why haven't you bought it yet??

The highly anticipated follow-up to A Night At The Opera arrived on the shelves in late '76, heralded by the hit Somebody to Love. Queen were flying at the time, and they knew it. After their mega-successful year, they decided to play it safe, much like The Works, and basically did a rehash of their best bits!
The production is completely unrestrained - having lost Roy Thomas Baker to bigger things in the USA, the vocal and guitar overdubs are so over the top - the render themselves not only unimpressive, but pointless and swamping otherwise decent songs into a mire of flash and clever-clever studio technique.

Maximum points tho for Tie Your Mother Down and Teo Torriate - well done Dr May!

Bullet for My Valentine's debut album, and what a debut, awesome riffs, powerful vocals and emmense Solo's is what a debut should have. Having heard only two songs from this album before I bought it, I thought it was about time broadened my musical horizons (from just listening to Metallica & Slipknot!). Beginning the album with a soft melodic intro, which features Apocalyptica, which leads prefectly into 'Her Voice Resides', A Thrash annihilation with screams but leads to smooth vocals by Matt Tuck and the boys.
'Cries in Vain' was originally taken from their self-titled five track UK EP and the US six track EP Hand of Blood and '4 Words (To Choke Upon)' was originally taken from the EP Hand of Blood.
Overall, this album has put Bullet For My Valentine on the map ... Read More:

Having built up a huge following over the years, Buckcherry has been riding on an all time high of popularity, particularly since their smash comeback album `15', released in 2006. Sticking to the formula of their success; riotous, whiskey-stained, sleaze-infested anthems, and heart-felt power ballads, Black Butterfly does not disappoint.
Album opener `Rescue Me' is a feisty, energetic affair, exposing the downsides of the rock n' roll lifestyle, whilst `Tired of You', with it's groovy guitar riffs, depicts an individual coming to terms with the imminent end of a relationship, due to the addictions, and resultant behaviour, of their other half.
`Too Drunk...' is the first single to be released from this album, and is most comparable to past offerings such as their first ... Read More:
