The Live album Skin and Bones is a brilliant and varied album from the Foos. Feauturing classics such as 'Times like these' and 'best of you' peformed live by Dave Grohl and co. - a must-have for Foo fighters fans - the lyrical performances are strong and emotive, even though you're not witnessing it live, the recording is excellent. Grohl is stripped to his acoustic core, in this brilliant and inspiring live album, truly amazing!

If you know little of this beloved British band beyond their three Greatest Hits albums and the bombast of their Eighties stadium shows, then this extraordinary record may have eluded you. Time to make amends. Queen II is one of the most ambitious, decadent, preposterous and exhilarating encounters between man and recording studio in the history of popular music. 'A Night At The Opera' from 1975 may be more balanced, considered and mature, but for sheer bloody bravado and musical abandon, Queen II takes all comers. It should be part of the national curriculum, awarded the Victoria Cross, shot into space for alternative life forms to marvel at. It's Brian May's favourite Queen album and it will become yours too. Seeing it offered up for mere ... Read More:

I only discovered this band about a year ago and this album is without doubt my favourite of the moment (and I've been playing it for a year now!). Every song is excellent. Rock music you can sing along to!

Im 13 years old and im usually into rockish type music but after hearing one Nouvelle Vague song i fell in love with them. I heard the cover of "Ever fall in love" (first sung by the buzzcocks) on tv and i thought it was great so i decided to buy their newest album. The re sings are amazing and the easy flowing mood is great when your trying to relax. I think that anybody could enjoy this album and the great voice of the Nouvelle Vague singers. The instuments are played fantastically and ever though i paid more on the high street than i could have on amazon i feel that it was well worth my money. Even the shops clerks seemed enthusiastic with my choice and recommended other songs and albums by Nouvelle Vague which now i also love. Nouvelle Vague took old songs ... Read More:

There are not many discs, games, anything on here with 100+ (mainly positive) reviews so as a metal fan I thought this would be worth a listen. What a waste of money!
I won't argue with anyone about whether or not these guys can play as they undoubtedly can but there is more to it than simply playing as fast as possible. I struggled to find any hooks to the songs and it all just seemed to blend into one. I will stick with Megadeth I think, who almost always show how to put superb melody, harmony and structure into the racket that is speed metal.

Chris Cornell's first solo effort Seasons on the soundtrack of Singles is one of my favourite songs. After the wet fart of Soundgarden's Down on the Upside, I was expecting to be blown away by the first full solo album Euphoria Morning. Sadly, CC's flatulence continued. The adventures of Audioslave followed, producing 3 albums. Combining the best songs of these 3 would have made a fantastic, varied album.
Against better judgement, I was hoping CC would write an intense set of songs with the same feel as Seasons or some of his best work writing for Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave. Sadly, I think Carry On is his worst musical work to date. I find it un-listenable at times. Rather than Carry On, it should have been called Follow Through.
Trivium are back with there strongest set of songs yet. Ascendancy is awesome The Crusade they went all Metallica on us and although it went Top Ten on it's release it wasn't a great album, however then Shogun came out and all i'm saying is this buy it, they've gone back to the old days and i've never Matt's full vocal range before from a growl to a scream and everything in between! the musicanship on this album is also amazing my fave tracks on this CD is Down From The Sky and the 12 min title track Shogun. All in all this a fantastic album it will blow your mind and your speakers any metal fan should have this in their collection.

"Naturally" by J J Cale - an album that compells you to nod your head and utter the words "Hell, yeah."
Make no mistake, this album is seriously cool - a short collection of perfectly executed tunes. The tunes bop and swagger along, underpinned by tantalising guitar licks, awesome boogie-woogie piano, cheeky drum beats and Cale's laconic vocal drawl.
"After Midnight" is a cracker - a bluesy piano riff, off-beat rhythms and a sassy vocal from Mr Cale. "Nowhere To Run" is beautiful muted funk, with choppy piano, a honeyed vocal line and a solid gold horn section. Both of these tunes are perfect examples of the laid back vibe that permeates this consistently great album.
"Naturally" is as welcome and as easily enjoyable as a rare steak served with sizzling ... Read More:

There is a wealth of quality material here and it isn't a hotchpotch of genres which means the album doesn't lose a listener's interest every other song - they're all good songs, surprisingly so, and they appeal to lovers of rock ballads, 80's rock and quality MOR. I'm into heavy rock, blues and some metal but I still have my quieter moments and this boxset is absolutely worth the money, no question. Cheesy title, yes, but just look at the contents! For once one of these 'greatest album in the world ever'-type compilations comes up trumps. Full-length album version of Bat Out Of Hell too, not the single edit!
