It's the first time I've revisited this album for a while. I don't really think of myself as a Green Day fan anymore, but this was the first record of theirs that I heard. I then bought them all up to, and including Warning (which I thought was terrible). I won't be buying American Idiot.
So I just thought I'd peruse the reviews while listening to it; there's a lot of talk of punk, but I don't see anyone mentioning The Clash anywhere... or any of Green Day's predecessors. That really shows the generation that Green Day appealed to. I'm pretty sure I was 16 or 17 when this came out, and it became standard listening for myself and all my friends. I started my first band, and we would cover Basket Case and Welcome to Paradise. So it ... Read More:

What a truly amazing record this is.
Five 20 somethings from Kentucky have delivered a fantastic album bursting with Hard Rock sounds and Southern Rock influences, the end result is quite breathtaking.
Opening rocker "Rain Wizard" sets the tone, (a song which lyrically tells a great story, by the way) followed by "Backwoods Gold," another superb Hard Rock song.
It's on the final three tracks though where the album really starts to shine, these songs are musically perfect, they flow superbly and they sound brilliant.
No real power ballads on here, perhaps this is the only thing missing, but those types of song are purely down to personal listener preference rather than a staple song of any hard rock band.

The first album I've bought from amazon and what an amazing album it is (can I also say that the delivery was very efficient, arriving a day prematurely), Tim Mcilrath's vocals are as always brilliant, his vocal range is astonishing. The drums are furious as are the guitars. Basically if you're into melodic vocals over upbeat instrumentals then Rise Against are your band.

This is essentially Led Zeppelin's best album, due to the fact that no other fireball in their cannon has as much diversity as this one.
This is an album for the highway and your 67' black camaro.

I think that ZZ Top are a very good band and they remain one of my favorite bands of all-time. this is one great collection and they made great blues music in the 1970s and the 1980s. here are my comments about most of the songs. GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING this is a really great song and is my 2nd favorite song on the entire cd. SHARP DRESSED MAN this is pretty great too, but probably my 5th favorite. ROUGH BOY is a ballad that is too slow and too sad for me. TUSH is an excellent blues rocker remains one of my 5 favorites on this album. MY HEAD'S IN MISSISSPII is a blues rocker one of my favorites, PEARL NECKLACE not my fave, IM BAD IM NATHIONWIDE this is pretty good although remains as a 10th favorite or something. I AINT CRAZY ABOUT VIVA LAS VEGAS, DOUBLEBACK ... Read More:

I bought this album after "The Black Parade", and for anyone only just starting to realise the brilliance of MCR's music, I think that's the best way to go.It took me a while to get used to The Parade, but I then (roughly)knew what to expect from "Three cheers for sweet revenge".
Three cheers is definitely darker than the Parade, but after hearing their third album you'll be used to darkness and anger. The lyrics in most of the songs are very aggressive, but I guess that's what pulls you in. My favorite tracks are "Helena", "Give 'em hell, Kid", "To the end", "Jetset life is gonna kill you" "Thank you for the Venom" and "I'm not Okay (I promise)". "You know, you've got something in your eye..." If you've seen the video for "I'm not Okay (I promise)", you'll ... Read More:

'International superhits', (like most bands best of's), is probably the best place to start with Green Day if you're new to their music and want to hear more. You get a pretty good selection of their hits, as well as some more obscure stuff. At 21 tracks, this album has plenty to offer and I defy anyone to put on 'Basket Case' or 'When I Come Around' and not crack into a big grin. This album showcases what a good rock band should be, simple, loud and fun. You can't ask for much more than that. Well worth a try.

Okay, I only discovered this album 2 days ago but I'm completely obsessed with it already. I can't understand how I could not have heard of this powerful metal-funk album before...
It particular, I love "Lil Jack Horny" which is one of the best tracks on the whole album alongside the title track "Pornograffiti."
This album is a weird and surreal mix of metal, rock, dance, glam-rock and funk all rolled into one. I quite honestly believe this album is beyond it's time. Truely it is a mad mix of musical styles but it sure as hell works! Love it!
It's not for everyone's taste but repeated listening will most certainly change your mind if you're unsure at first hearing.
when i was 13 years old (2003) id heard soem queen stuff and thourght they were amazing to begin with, but id only heard like 5 songs, i told my mum, and then the same week because i had been good moslt likely, my mum bourght me this album, and hence forth to this day, queen have been my favourite band.
its an extremely diverse album, it had the hard rock and metal and pop styles in once vision, it has the very heavy fast raw metal in gimmie teh prize, it has those fun cheesy pop songs like pain is so close to pleasure, and dont lose your head (thosE even have metal styled guitar solos)
and who wants to live forever is one of teh best ballads ive ever heard.
and its counterpart called "forever" a piano and keyboard instrumental of teh song, is just so tranquilizing.
