If I had to burn my rock CD collection but were aloud to keep a handful, I know that Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" would be one of albums that i'd save straight away.
This album is just pure genius and one cannon't fail to be surprised when knowing that it's still a bestseller even today, three decades after it was first released. Awesome songs, awesome album, do yourself a favour and buy it! >>More Details |

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. This was the first time I had heard the Libera group as I was sent the CD as a gift. To begin with I really didn't care for some of the music - remember I hadn't heard this style of choral singing before and it took a bit of getting used to, but I sat down on Saturday and listened right through and by the time it was finished I was hooked. I loved the setting of Bach's Air on a G String in particular, and then right at the end the performances of Blake's Little Lamb and the In Paradisum are exquisite. This is a very fine choir matching in quality the Westminster Cathedral choristers, and I really can't recommend the disk too highly.

Alice Cooper, arguably one of the greatest rock icons the world has ever seen.
As mentioned before Alice isnt as commercial as he was in the 70's and 80's with the latest commercial record Trash coming from the early 90's. However Along Came a Spider is full of hits that are going to be brought to life (unlike his victims) in his theatrical concert Along Came a Spider next year. Its amazing how long the Coop has been going and he can still produce records that would put todays modern era of bands to shame. This is most definately an album that deserves at least 3 listenings to from everyone who says they like listening to music because it is very very very good.
The opening title track 'Bombtrack' is a perfect track to listen to to understand this album because it is almost like a round up of everything to come in the rest of the album. Driving guitar riffs and licks (yes licks) from Morello and angsty hip lyrics from Zach. In fact the only thing it really doesn't convey about the album is quite the intricate brilliance of Morello's soloing ability and guitar playing. What made Rage popular back then still holds so much appeal today. Real music fans will revel in this album because they are a truly unique sound and their debut album can easily ... Def Leppard outsold many band of the 1980s, and this compliation of their best hits proves why. Hits from the early years of recording, like "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages" are within the compilation, and are complimented with the hits from their biggest selling album, "Hysteria", like "Animal", and "Rocket". Included also are some songs from their albums in the mid 1990s, like "When Love And Hate Collide", which scored highly in the UK charts. Of course, their biggest hit, "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is the first track, so that will definately get any listener going.
The band itself produces absolutely brilliant music, and this album clarifies the imapct Def Leppard had on the music world. I would also call this a masterpiece. >>More Details |

I saw these guys at the Music Live Event at the NEC - they were on stage at about 3PM on a Sunday and still rocked! The front man is a real star and definitely emerging from the Darkness
