I can't remember how I first heard of this, but I am so glad I did because the music they play just blows you away. It's uncategorisable. it's new. It's energetic use of the guitar as the percussion for their tracks is so unknown to most modern listeners, but so good to listen to. I never knew acoustic guitar could be so compelling! If you like any kind of guitar music, you must buy this. And something from Seasick Steve. Something fresh at last.

I bought this album on the strength of Dream Catch Me, something I don't usually do without hearing more, but a decision I certainly don't regret in this case.

Vocally, he has hints of Jack Johnson and Adam Levine, and delivers each song with soul, energy and enthusiasm. There are no bad, weak or filler tracks on this album, which sounds polished but still raw.

Despite the similarities I mentioned earlier, Faulkner still sounds totally unique and has a lot of talent. I enjoy this album, which manages to relax me when I need relaxation, as well as stimulate me when I need an energy boost.

One of the best debut albums in recent years.

If you are a massive fan of their old sound, of the Nu metal, then you should definitely avoid this album. If you are a music fan with an open mind then you should definitely purchase this. The sound that they have created is incredibly different. I really don't know why they changed that much. Once I like a band's sound I really don't like it when they try and reinvent themselves to change that, and that's exactly what Linkin Park have done here. I bought Meteora as my first Linkin Park album back in 2003 and I instantly loved it. The sound of the music was so unique, and to a 13 year old, pretty surprising as well. Meteora was the band's pinnacle and it is such a fantastic album. Then, after a couple of years of no activity from the band, I was ... Read More:

After the undoubted return to form that was Don't Believe The Truth, Oasis have taken a step backwards here. What made DBTT such a good record was that Noel had rediscovered his ability to make catchy pop songs and was rewarded with a couple of number one hits. The problem here is that, quite simply, there aren't any good tunes. Whereas Oasis are often criticised for being too derivative - and with good reason in some instances: Shakermaker/Coca-Cola song - here they are actually resorting to ripping off their own back catalogue. Shock Of The Lightning sounds like Rock 'N' Roll Star; I'm Outta Time is just Little James with better lyrics (and a frankly awful video). The terrible, whining singing on Get Off Your High Horse is awkward to listen to. The cringeworthy, brainwashed, ... Read More:

I gambled on this CD, only having listened to Moving to New York on XFM...

Glad I did to be honest as it's a very honest and uplifting CD, one of the best I've heard since Snow Patrol's "Final Straw" and Hard-Fi's "Stars of CCTV". If you need a guide as to their sound, think the Arctics stirred with Blur and add a dash of Julian cope (Teardrop Explodes - ask your dad!)

The afore-mentioned Moving to New York is a superb single, with great guitars one of the album's rocking tracks. Let's Dance to Joy Division brings back memories and always raises a smile. There are some weaker tracks but overall there are a varied ensemble of original and lively songs on offer here.

Only a three-piece, the Wombats deliver a bigger sound than you'd think though they ... Read More:

I discovered these guys whilst watching Later...with Jools Holland. WOW!
What a revelation! Raw, energetic, funky, dirty, bluesy, garage rock n' roll! This is undoubtebly the best debut album of the year, and one of the best albums to be released in 2008, full stop. They are like the bastard love-child of The Stone Roses and funk-era Red Hot Chili Peppers, after a threesome with The Ramones. I'll be playing this album for a long time. BUY IT!!!

Emiliana hang your head in shame. I loved 'Love in the time..' for it's lovely ambient beats together with that beautiful voice. Wasn't expecting the folky turn of 'Fisherman's' but still great (especially live).

This latest offering is an example of someone with absolutely no idea as to what direction to take musically. I have no problem with taking different directions, but probably best not to take them all at the same time. This is a complete mess and a waste of - did I say already? a beautiful voice.

D- must try much much harder.

Ok, for the people who don't like this album I say - you're all mad and have no taste in music whatsoever.
For the people like myself, who absolutely LOVE this album, I say - good on you, it's obvious you have brilliant taste in music!!!
There are no bad songs on this album, they are all genius - fabulous lyrics, catchy tunes and fantastic guitar. There are a couple of standout songs for me, so here they are (in order of the listing on the CD):

Politik: Coldplay were right to choose this song as an opener, it really works for the album. It took about two listens to get into it, and then it became a firm favourite. Has a real meaning too.
In My Place: Fantastic drumming at the start and the guitars are amazing. Great lyrics!
God Put a Smile Upon Your Face: Starts ... Read More:
