Having bought all of the official Capitol / EMI Nat King Cole releases on CD for the best part of 15 years I am pleased to be able to recommend both this Bear Family Box along with its companion Set STARDUST - to any hard core NCC fan, as it represents the most practical way of collecting all of Nat's Capitol catalogue from (in this case) 1960 - 1964. It also pretty much stacks up in a financial sense too, as along with 11 CD's you get a lavishly annotated hard backed book that is ONLY available with this Set.
My only reservation (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5)is the sound quality....which, overall, is very 'dry' and 'neutral' which seems to be a Bear Family trait when they master their sets (the STARDUST set is the same)- as ... Read More: >>More Details |
