This album is rubbish!! It's a shame I have to give it even one star.
There's not one reference to snow, paper, colombian marching powder or anything else white including Xmas!!!
Nope, it's all over the show, no structure to the album at all, songs all jumbled up. I think The Beatles must have still been on drugs when they put this album together. Oh Bla Di, Oh Bla Da????? Oh Bloody Hell more like.
Brian Epstein died just before this album was released, and personally, I think he had some insider knowledge as to how this album sounded. This album also coincides with Oh-no making an appearance. Something which must have put them all off their stride, judging by the sounds of it!!
This is probably the best compilation album of Stevie's work and that's great but I urge you all to use this as a taster of his work, there is lots of it and if you buy anything before 1980 you will love it if you like this. Unfortunately he's done nothing of real note after the 1970's and that was where his key work was done. The trilogy of talking book, innvervisions and Songs in the key of life are treasures to be explored in their won right and you should all do so, personally although songs in the key of life is seen as his masterpiece it was a double album brain dump of everything he was working on and contains material that is weaker than the shorter talking book and innvervisions, with Innvervisions representing his finest (non compilation) album ... I am a McFly fan, I'm 38 years old and I love this album. I have to say that it took a while to grow on me compared with their others which were instantly catchy but now I have heard this a few times I think that every track is a classic. Unlike some albums where only one song is enjoyable. I would recommend anyone to buy this album, even my husband likes it compared with McFly's other tracks as it is rockier. I love their lyrics and think that they are talented instrumentalists. Buy this CD you won't regret it.

Like others, I saw the man on Jools Holland. I suppose the romantic in me loved the idea that this guy had experienced the lowest of the lows but had come through it all and was here playing his 3-string geetar live on the JH show. However, I liked what I heard and his enthusiasm for the blues was infectious. Okay, it's not as polished as the great blues musicians and he's not going to outdo Robert Cray for technical ability but just listen to the stories he tells and you'll be tapping your foot along. We all love to see people do well that have faced grim adversity and Seasick Steve provides a soulful, bizarre and honest approach to his version of the blues. So, stop being so cynical and give it a blast.

This is a great album - head and shoulders above many other cross over attempts that are around at the moment. It demonstrates not only Jonathan Ansell's amazing vocal range but his growing richness of tone and emotional interpretation that marks him as one of the up an coming world class tenors - and bodes well for many future albums!
High points for me are Amor Tio Vieta , Canto Della Terra, Libiamo and Hoppipolla - the latter being a Sigur Ros track that is an absolute gem.
As with any album - there may be a couple that for personal taste come lower down the 'play it again' scale - possibly Hearts of England has the least effect on my pulse rate - not because of the quality of the singing but the quality of the song - not the rousing anthem ... Read More:

I'm in danger of falling out of love with Bloc Party - they can call their new album Intimacy, Tender Kisses, Big Snogs from Kele and the Boys, whatever - the simple fact is this clumsy fumble of an album feels rushed.
This third album of course follows the less than spectacular 'A Weekend in the City' - a hugely ambitious album that fell short of the band's lofty aspiration to create a cultural snapshot of modern London life as experienced by your average young 20 and 30 somethings. It did however have some good moments and I am loath to completely slate a band for trying too hard. At the very least it felt like the band had sat down and recorded a set of songs thematically linked, with a common tone and that even had some sort of story arc running through them.

I was a bit disappointed with the album after having read all the glowing reviews on Amazon. The lyrics are good and the production is interesting but apart from William's blood and I'm crying the melodies are frankly boring.
