Okay so some of the choices are a little odd, but this is by far the most interesting Christmas album I've heard. A much more interesting, ironic take on Christmas.
Ryan Adams is a rarity - a genuine tortured artist. He writes with heartfelt angst and sometimes, cynically delivers parodies of his favourite styles. I saw him play at the Academy this week, and compared to any other performance of his that I've seen, he was damned near perfect. Off drugs, booze, etc. he and his band sounded great. Cardinology is his first real rock recording - live, it is ear splitting. On record, it is brief, nice on the ears. Live, it is passionate, driving and convincing. The ballads are the best, of course, but Go Easy, Fix it and even the parody of U2 - Magic are dynamic. I like Crossed Out Name, Natural Ghost and Cobwebs. No five stars, I'm afraid - it has few valleys and no real peaks, just the most consistent record ... Read More:

Carole King's 'Tapestry' album has to be a true 'classic' - and I think I'm right in saying that this album's never been out of print since it was originally released back in 1971!
Features the hit single from 1971: 'It's Too Late' (though from what I recall, the single version was not as long and of a slightly different arrangement) which will forever remind me of that year. Despite only being nine years old at the time (and unlike the kids of today - we did not have the kind of money that could buy records back then) I waited eight years before I was able to buy it by special order in my teens.
Also features the classic 'You've Got A Friend', and opens with the song 'I Feel The Earth Move' which was later to be ... Read More:

You simply cannot produce a gem like this without coming from the wrong side of the tracks. Amy has put her heart and soul in to this, she has lived it for real. A priceless addition to any music collection. You only get the chance to find someone like Amy once in a lifetime if you're really lucky. We've hit the jackpot so lets all enjoy her while we can. BIG UP to Amy and the production team behind her music. A perfect TEN.

Well, album number 4 from Seth Lakeman finds him backed by a major label. Not good news for someone who's used to recording albums in kitchens. So, it was with some scepticism that I listened to Poor Man's Heaven and it was to say the least, a huge letdown. For a start, I don't personally LIKE the songs. They are bland to the extreme, and as several reviewers have already noted, mostly at the same tempo. Did his metronome break or something? Not good. On the plus side, I do like Crimson Dawn and Solomon Browne. The latter is a slightly obscure subject but is poignant and comes across well, despite sounding cluttered - a sparser sound may have suited it better and let the lyrics breathe a little.
If not the best Christmas album out there ..... and beleive me I should know, I've bought pleanty over the years, I say if your looking for a all round, something for everyone Christmas Album get this one I'll be suprised if your disapointed
I have to say,i have never really been a girls aloud fan,but when i saw them perform the 'promise' on last weeks X Factor show,i was blown away! the song is fantastic! and the girls were brilliant when they sang it,i think this will be their next number one.I bought it yesterday, and i can't stop playing it! If you are a girls aloud fan,you will love it,if you are not really a girls aloud fan,you will probably still love it!!

This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.
There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.
The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.
It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.
This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.

The problem with the Shea Stadium gig was that they were supporting a stadium rock band (The Who) and, thus, concentrated on some of their more audience-friendly tracks.
The best live Clash track I have ever heard is Complete Control. Other great lives songs include White Man In Hammersmith Palais, London's Burning and Capital Radio. None of which feature here.
Although there are some great Clash songs on here, and some are better than on the second half of From Here To Eternity, this does not represent the best of the Clash live.
To get a true picture of what the Clash were like live, you'd probably need the first half of From Here To Eternity, mixed with a random selection of tracks from this CD.
Brilliant artist, superb songs, awful remaster. This has took all the raw sound out of this mans music. If you listen to the originals there is no comparison.Messing about with tracks either works or it does not, this is the latter.
