I'm not going to knock Michael Jackson for all the extra curricular stuff that seems now to tower over any of his musical achievements,I'm also going to point out that he's since made far inferior albums-my beef with Jacko is that this album was the soundtrack to hundreds of car journeys following my brother getting it as a 13th birthday present back in 1988. Even back then, with my limited powers of criticism I hated it, now I've had years to dwell on the reasons why.
To put it simply-songs-or lack of- are the problem. The title track sounds like someone's little brat in the throes of a paddy pants-down, 'The Way You Make Me Feel', the album's most melodic offering is ruined by the sound of someone dropping a toolbox down a flight of stairs every twelve ... 8. Baby I'm a Star. 10/10
9. Purple Rain. 8/10
OVERALL GRADE: 10/10
Prince's 2nd best album, behind "Sign "O" the Times". Just edit "Purple Rain" a little bit and it would rise from 8/10 to 9/10, because at 8.41, it is too long. (and "Purple Rain's" outro is more than 5 mins!)

This album blew my mind when I first heard it 15 years or so ago. From the first to the last this album reaches the pinnacles that other artists just cannot. To think that it is over 30 years old to me it sounds fresher and more vital than most of the bland R&B that is being offered up today. Also it's political message still blows me away.
This album is so good that everyone should own it. Infact if you know someone who doesn't get them a copy. It would count as a genuine act of kindness on your part.
Most of the time, when artists re-release an already successful album it's a blatant cash in with only one or maybe two songs added to make it viable. That makes it a rip off for the fans who already rushed out to buy the original and has long been a bugbear of mine.
With this re-release of FutureSex/LoveSounds we have here a rarity - a deluxe package which actually has a great deal of extra bonus material to justify it (if you'll pardon the pun). There's an entire DVD of extra performances, videos and behind the scenes commentary and footage plus a number of new remixes with guest appearances by various artists.
The original album is in my opinion a fantastic LP which shows off just how far ahead of the zeitgeist Timberlake is - he does something and six ... Read More:

If you are aware of Jamiroquai you will know them for their infectious grooves and funky acid jazz, and if you don't, then this is the best place for your first taste of what they have to offer. Spanning all their albums to date, this album has a greats selection of tracks. From the didgeridoo enhanced 'When You Gonna Learn' to the exuberance of 'Virtual Insanity', as soon as you put this CD on you will start to move, tap your feet and grin and you won't stop until the last track. This has such gems as 'Canned Heat' that never fails to get me up and dancing, to 'Little L' which has much the same effect! This also has more laid back tracks such as 'Seven Days in Sunny June' from the latest album, 'Dynamite' and extra tracks for this collection, my favourite being 'Runaway'. Overall this ...
