You could play a fully credible disco night armed with nothing more than these five cds. If a definitive chart was made of the 500 top tunes from the dance decade of 1975-1984 this set would claim an absolute minimum of 50 places.
One ill informed reviewer knocks legenary weekender tunes on CD3 as fillers and bemoans the lack of Abba, Bee Gees and Dexy's Midnight Runners. It's precisely that absence which makes this such a credible set. I already owned perhaps 80 or 90 of these tracks but the purchase was well worth it for Janice Macclain's Smack Dab in the Middle and then again for the huge grin that spread across my face when I heard Wikka Wrap again for the first time in twenty years.
If you have only a few disco tracks in your ... Read More:

Is this the greatest album of all time? Truthfully, I don't know. At the tender age of 18, I thought so. I had no concept of Van Morrison except for Dexy's great cover of Jackie Wilson Said. So, I got on the train to Chester, because they had Penny Lane Records, and I knew I'd find it there. I bought it together with St. Domininc's Preview, so that if I didn't dig Astral Weeks I'd have the album with JWS on and all would not be lost. From the floating, opening strains of the title track, I was immediately hooked. I had never heard anything so fresh, so free, and I already loved Dylan and The Beatles and - for good measure - Scott Walker, but nothing matched this, until I later discovered the likes of Tim Buckley, Nick Drake, Neil Young, etc. But it has ... This album remains one of the best, Anything but dull, real joy in worship with many favourites. I love this style of music and it does justice to the wonder of God's mighty works.
Great when you have friends round or just listening in the car or at home.
Wonderfully inspirational tracks.

I love this album and neve get bored of listening to it. Each time I do listen I enjoy it more and more. The songs are infectious and it is hard not to relate to the lyrics.

What a pity the one of the best voices there has ever been and what do they do sell you a SACD version which is only 2 channel.OK it sounds good but then again he would sound brilliant on a forty year old piece of kit,but whats the point in having a SACD player and a good 7:1 system and finishing up listening to stereo coming out of the front speakers.Basicaly this disc is a con.

This CD suprised me with it's contemprora lyrics and music. Especially I liked Jesus Messiah, God of this city and God Almigty. Four stars because the album has a bit too many similar songs.

Do not buy this album. It is a live recording, with Dionne in poor form. The wording Live has disappeared from the album photo supplied with the advert.

As a new convert to NS I was intrigued as to what I would find on here.
I was pleasantly surprised at the content and there are a few tracks that have already become real favourites.
For me the standout track has to be the hair-raising Al Kent:The way you've been acting. Whilst this is a brilliant track unfortunately it does suffer from being a copy from a record and there is some distortion on the left channel and some of the other tracks are similarly from records and not the original master tape. Still I would rather have them that way than not at all.
All in all a bargain at £3.39 at a large supermarket chain at time of writing.
