Just suppose a Martian arrived at your doorstep and wanted to know about "Soul Music" - this is what you would play. Aretha was at the very height of her powers, and all this stuff - demos amd out takes for me are even more enjoyable than what was released at the time. You will hear Aretha with sparce backing and mimimal production, going places only she could - she grabs hold of a song amd makes it her own - and only Joe Cocker rivals that special talemt. It is amazing these wonderful sounds have been kept in the vaults for so long - but I am so grateful this stuff has appeared. By a mile the greatest ever Aretha collection - worth easily 10x the typical reail price. This is an essential purchase - but be warned this is the real thing - it'll ... Read More:

If you liked funk in the 70s then this is right up your alley and in my opinion, it's good stuff. It does not quite thrill me like funk did way back then, but of course in those days funk was new on the scene and I was lot younger aswell, so the tendency to get up and shake my tail feather (in a completely embarrassing way) was a good deal greater than it is now. Even so, this record is genuinely funky and it is instrumented in much the way things were back then, so you hear the clavinet, and some scratchy sounding strats and all the rest of them doing their funky thing just how they did back then. So I reckon with a couple of drinks inside me and the right atmosphere this would get me up.
The idea that this album has not dated is frankly wrong,of course it has dated, the same as any other album of the era (say, the Batman soundtrack). There is a few good songs, and the story of TTD is pretty much one of underachievement, with each subsequent album mixing moments of genius (To Know Someone Deeply,Supermodel Sandwich)with utter nonsense (I Have Faith In These Desolate Times).

if you are starting to get into diana ross and the supremes then this is a cd for you. all the hits are on this album, (not all ) you will find that most of the tracks have been changed in some way, you need to listen to other hit cds to find this out. the only bad think i will say is the very last track, you keep me hanging on,this is not a very good dance version of the song. i have 7 version's of this song and they seem to have put the worst one on this cd, why dont they think first. but apart from that it is well worth the money and you will enjoy a few special moments on the cd, with the girls giving as allways there best.

I usually don't like albums by any artists, because there is a few good tracks, and the rest is rubbish. Well, with this one - it's almost all perfect tracks with a couple that's only 8/10. Make sure you listen to this. It's something that the radios haven't played to boredom - but it's just as good, if not better. I wish the artist would get picked up even more - as he would rightfully deserve, for this is mature, quality R'n'B material. I think it ranks among the best. Why? I can't tell. If I could, it would mean it fits a scheme. It doesn't. It's just good. Listen to it, and You'll know what I am talking about. If I ever chose someone to be the fan of, it would be Jay Sean for this album (even though the first one, "Me against myself" was great ... Read More:

I bought this to get a copy of their most famous fun hits such as ABC, I Want You Back and Rockin Robin and was pleased to find some other great songs that I hadn't heard before, other than the few really famous hits that are on the album though I wouldn't say much else grabs you and it seems that some really good songs from the Jackson 5 such as 'Blame it on The Boogie' have been left out.
Worth purchasing if your into them or just the famous songs otherwise possibly give it a miss. A nice addition to party music collections though.

This should be an essential addition to anyone's gothic rock collection. While not as "hardcore" as some of Nightwish's songs, I think this album is more accessible to a wider range of people and a great introduction for anyone new to Within Temptation's music (I got this album after buying their latest album, The Heart Of Everything).
Every song is distinctive and none are forgettable; their tunes stay in your head and endlessly repeat themselves and make you want to constantly listen to them. The singer is skillful and in perfect control of her own voice; the music is - for want of a better phrase - plain awesome!

I have been a fan of this lady since the beginning, and yes I am very biased towards her and her music.
But in my humble opinion I dont think she has ever made a bad record and that is some achivment in this day and age, the greatest female voice backed up by the one and only Pips.
If you only have one record in your collection make it this one..........

A collection of songs from one of the USA'S most underated bands. Apart from a few personal choices, the ommision of Day and Night is a major error. That said if you want a broad look at Little Feat this album will satisfy your curiosity. Llowell George slide guitar hits the spot and the rythmn section holds everything together. They deserved more fame than they got and on a good night there was no better live band around.
