I gambled on this CD, only having listened to Moving to New York on XFM...
Glad I did to be honest as it's a very honest and uplifting CD, one of the best I've heard since Snow Patrol's "Final Straw" and Hard-Fi's "Stars of CCTV". If you need a guide as to their sound, think the Arctics stirred with Blur and add a dash of Julian cope (Teardrop Explodes - ask your dad!) The afore-mentioned Moving to New York is a superb single, with great guitars one of the album's rocking tracks. Let's Dance to Joy Division brings back memories and always raises a smile. i like this compilation as it contains most of pink floyd's classics. i'm not a big fan of them but my favorite songs are the two 1980s hits learning to fly and sorrow. then comes another brick in the wall, money, wish you were here and shine on you crazy diamond which i like better on the wish you were here album. but for classic rock fans, this is a must have!

The Beatles. A band that are so familiar to everyone in the western world that it's easily possible to live 25-30 years without hearing one of their albums from start to finish. You just hear it everywhere. But that's just the thing; you always hear the same songs - essentially, the ones from the Red and Blue albums.
I remember being captivated at a very young age by the otherworldly songs on the Blue Album - Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds probably contributed to my later interest in psychedelic substances - and I began to appreciate the quality of songwriting on the Red Album, rather than the actual songs themselves when I started learning to play guitar at 16. I have a hell of a history with these Use Your Illusion albums, indeed with Guns N' Roses in general. "Appetite for Destruction" was the first `metal' album I ever heard, and it changed my life immediately. I actually first heard it while on stage in a school play. It's a strange story, and probably more interesting if I leave it at that. I actually heard it at a time when I didn't think there was any music I liked. As soon as I heard it, I knew that it was what I had been looking for. Moving onto the Use Your Illusion albums, well I don't think there is any record I have heard more times than these. "Meddle" - the 1971 album - contains the bands signature piece "Echoes" : a massive, definitive space-rock-funk-jam that lasts about 22 minutes, is the perfect accompaniment to the end of "2001", and was undoubtedly the absolute, brain-mashing highlight of 2006's David Gilmour Tour : seeing it performed by the ersatz version of the Floyd - containing 2/3rds of the final touring lineup - on his 2006 tour, assaulted by lasers and smoke in the confines of the Royal Albert Hall was one of the musical highlights of my life. Nonetheless, we're getting off track : "Meddle" is a great record that is the first foreshadowing of the creative heights the band will achieve. A fine record worth buying.

I know that this band has influences from Coldplay and Keane, but they are much better than those bands in my opinion. I thought Keane's singles from the last album were great, especially Crystal ball, so I think this is more like the new Keane than the old Keane. Although I think OneRepublic is their own individual band and maybe they shouldn't be compared.
When I first heard this band's song re-mixed by Timbaland, I wasn't expecting the band to do any solo songs because I thought it was sort of organised by Timblalnd, but it turns out that Timbaland re-mixed OneRepublic's version of Apologize and made it sound better. Emiliana hang your head in shame. I loved 'Love in the time..' for it's lovely ambient beats together with that beautiful voice. Wasn't expecting the folky turn of 'Fisherman's' but still great (especially live).
This latest offering is an example of someone with absolutely no idea as to what direction to take musically. I have no problem with taking different directions, but probably best not to take them all at the same time. This is a complete mess and a waste of - did I say already? a beautiful voice. Nowadays critical consensus often ranks this as The Beatles' best album, and indeed one of the best albums ever made. While it's only my second favourite by them personally (The White Album being first), this is still one of the greatest albums I own.
Revolver is the point where The Beatles ceased to be a pop group and became something else entirely. Shortly after its release they gave up touring, having tired of performing to screaming fans when they'd much rather be holed away in a recording studio making new music. This also allowed them to be more experimental, recording sounds that could never have been recreated in stadiums and arenas at the time. Ok, for the people who don't like this album I say - you're all mad and have no taste in music whatsoever.
For the people like myself, who absolutely LOVE this album, I say - good on you, it's obvious you have brilliant taste in music!!! There are no bad songs on this album, they are all genius - fabulous lyrics, catchy tunes and fantastic guitar. There are a couple of standout songs for me, so here they are (in order of the listing on the CD): Politik: Coldplay were right to choose this song as an opener, it really works for the album. After watching this show, not only you loose yourself in celine`s great voice and performance, but you also realise that this BD DVD is wrapped up in an unforgettable presentation of high quality imagery and sound, which really does make the show come alive in your own living room.
