I love the film. I love the music and love most of this album. Some tracks seem a bit strange such as the second one which is why I was a bit choosy as to which ones went onto my MP3 player. The main theme is haunting and deffinitely the best, the ceilidh music less memorable. All in all though this is a good soundtrack album. If only I could get hold of the film on DVD I would be very happy.

I have just listened to the cd and it is fantastic. It doesn't matter if you are a "python" lover or not. Fantastic song writing, arrangements, great vocal performances and the production on this cd is first class. Tim Curry is as always delivering a great vocal performance, as are the rest of the cast. It is brilliant. Buy it, you wont be dissapointed!

If you know about the Goons then you probably like them. They were the inspiration for Monty Python. The Goonshow was on the radio nearly every week for ten years, so the question is: where to start? My answer is this album. Everyone has their own opinion as to the best episodes, but if you don't like Napoleon's Piano then there's no hope for you! It really is a gem, together with International Christmas Pudding. Here they are on one album. Start here.

A good musical score is can what often make a good film excellent, as is the case with Master and Commander. The soundtrack is classical but not stuffy, energetic without being intrusive. In other words, just excellent. If you enjoyed the film then it is a certainty that you will love the score.

I wanted to replace my old vinyl copy of the RHPS and could only find this version online at the time, so I bought it. I does have a couple of extra songs that my vinyl copy didn't, but it ALSO has dialogue running into each track which I find very irritating when all I want to do is listen to the music. If this doesn't bother you, then this is a great, comprehensive album. If it does, buy the other version now available at Amazon.

There's only one track on this lovely album that doesn't really work. And that's the cover of Rose Royce's 'Wishin on a Star'. It's not an obvious choice for a Xmas album and it just doesn't sound Christmassy enough. It needed some sleigh bells. BUT don't let that put you off. Elaine's voice has of course always been top drawer and here, on this unfairly rather forgotten gem of an album, it's arguably at its peak. The highlight for me is 'Santa Claus is Comin To Town'. I've never heard a better arrangement of it. Different, yet still traditional. It's selling at such a reasonable price too. Thoroughly recommended. And doesn't she look gorgeous on the cover!

I was initially disappointed when I played the first track and noticed on the cover'original motion picture score'but I thought that I would give it a listen and its stunning, so if the original soundtrack is better than this then I'm a dutchman.

Thank you Amazon for having this in stock. Please don't stop making this available. I just dug out the album when packing up my parents things. I used to listen to this album so much as a young adult and when I saw the album and realized I had no record player to play it I was hurt. I took a chance and looked for it online and it came up. I cried. My high school sang Starmaker as one of our graduation songs 20 years ago. I used to be a dancer so Fame was a show I was glued to and I used to make dances from the songs on this album. Thanks a zillion for allowing me to hold on to these great memories.

Listen to the CD - then read the book. Once you've got Keillor's voice in your head, you'll never read his books the same way again. Gentle humour about growing up in Lake Wobegon, the town the map-makers missed (yes, it's in Mist County). Carefully observed detail, related with love (and occasionally impatience). Yes, this is small-town America, and eventually Keillor escaped to the big city. These are the memories of his childhood.
