If you have never listened to minimalist music this should be your point of departure. I have played this CD to the unsuspecting, as background music, and in the process won over the even the most ardent sceptics.

Lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels is a crime tale about a group of friends from London who happen to lose a game of poker, they end up in a lot of debt thus having to get out of it. The story takes many twists & turns and will also make you laugh as it has a very good use of wry & dark humor. The plot evolves around one man but there are many characters who share as if not more an important role. The star of the show in this movie is Vinnie Jones who acts brilliantly.
I recomed 'Snatch' If you like this.

I am not to sure if it is fair to compare this film with BJD. It has a lovely cuddly feel to it more so in fact. No baddies, good humour, not too predictable either. But one of the best films I have seen this year. It is certainly a girly film but that is not necessarily a bad thing. One for Christmas I think (the usual snow scenes filmed in Godalming and Shere UK)
So if your a girl or a sensitive man who doesn't mind shedding a few tears (I am), you MUST watch this film.

Glass's violin concerto is pleasant and immediately accessible. But, Glass's music is all very similar; its as if there is a number of ideas which get continously re-cycled. To my mind, Adams' concerto is stronger

I was surprised when I first listened to this tape. I was expecting a traditional Agatha Christie type format in the manner I was used to hearing. The three stories have been very much updated in terms of the setting of the stories and the language and general setting of the plots. This does not in any way detract from the enjoyment, rather it enhances the quality of the tales, indicating that the original format transfers very easily to a more up to date setting. The acting in all the stories is excellent, and the plots take a very interesting and unexpected turn, particularly towards the end, which is of course what one would expect from the author. I thoroughly recommend this tape, and would offer it for sale as second hand if I didn't know that ... Read More:

This CD made for spectacular listening, i was in Treorchy on the night this was recorded and listening to it again all these years later bought back some memories. This is welsh humour at it's best and would probably be lost on anyone else, but for the pure parody of the songs it's really worth a listen.

This CD wasn't so much released as it escaped. It has to be the worst recording of the songs from both the show and the film that I have ever heard.
Judi Dench does her usual professional job on her songs, believable, quirky and full of character. However, Jonathan Pryce seems to have no idea of what the MC is about at all. His German accent has been acquired from the "Accents R Us" bargain basket, and he presents none of the menace and joy that are present in the MC's songs. Maria Friedmann is simply winsome in Sally's character songs, though she does work to put across the Englishness of Isherwood's Sally in the Kit Kat Klub songs.
The orchestra is simply too big and cannot give the feel of a theatre show, plus the accoustic ... Read More:

When i first saw the movie, i fell in love, not with Hugh or Julia's lines but, with the film's fantastic music. This collection of songs has become my favorite ever since and i even danced "She" by Elvis Costelo in my wedding reception. I strongly recommend it

Having seen the show live and falling instantly in love with it I could not wait to buy the Ultimate DVD. Although the DVD was different to the live show I had seen it is still great and gave me access to great stars such as Elaine Page, Sir John Mills and Jason Gardner to name a few. So it was with eager anticipation that I ordered the soundtrack for me and my daughters to listen to in the car. We expected the soundtracks to be the same as our much loved show and DVD - THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Some of the soundtracks are sung by other people and the standard is no where near the standard recieved on the DVD - the only exception being Memories by Elaine Page. We were personally horrified by one of our favourites Mungojerri and Rumpleteazer where the music is completely ... Read More:
