this is the best thing i've bought off amazon for a while. i love it, and you will too. i am too young to remember most of these tunes, except for the really famous ones like doctor who but i have this cd in the car and it is such fun to think, 'that sounds like it has to be, oh i don't know, the royal wedding theme', and then find out it is actually 'magic carpet ride' or something.
i really really enjoy listening to this and i would recommend it to everyone. some of these pieces are really,,,,,, beautiful.

John Kander and Fred Ebb present CHICAGO, a musical set during prohibition in Chicago.
The story deals with the idea of a "celebrity criminal." The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by writer Maurine Dallas Watkins about real crimes & criminals she reported on!
The synopsis {possible spoilers ahead!}

Great for car journeys, well produced, and lots of interesting stuff. Recommended for children 8 plus. My 10, 14 and 18 year old all enjoy these Naxos books, and so do their parents.
Well done naxos.

I've no doubt that this was Dylan Thomas' finest piece, combining humour, pathos, and such an evocative atmosphere of a welsh fishing village. I am English and proud of it, but recognise characters from my childhood. Who could better the spoken voice of Richard Burton, as the main narrator, and Huw Griffiths, to bring such warmth to a brilliant play.

The Wire was almost universally acclaimed as being one of the best programmes ever made for TV and I, like many others, was sorry to see it come to an end earlier this year. If you miss the series yourself, but perhaps don't want to buy the DVDs and work your way through the whole saga again then this CD could be just what you need! It is a companion CD to The Wire: Beyond Hamsterdam Baltimore Tracks from The Wire (Hip Hop Edition) and features the tracks listed:
1. "This America, Man"
2. Way Down In The Hole - The Blind Boys Of Alabama
3. "Why Would Anyone Ever Wanna Leave Baltimore?"
4. Oh My God - Michael Franti & Spearhead
5. Dance My Pain Away - Rod Lee
6. My Life Extra - Dj Technics

My husband is a driving instructor so I felt this CD was a "must have" gift for him.
We are both were familiar with Bob Newhart's brilliantly funny sketches from years back - once hard - never forgotten. It's not only what he puts into his sketches that are so funny, as what he leaves out, with well timed pauses skillfully setting the scene in the listener's imagination.
The Driving Instructor is a pure classic - I defy anyone not to laugh have until they have tears rolling down their cheeks. The Grace L Ferguson Airline (and Storm Door co) is brilliantly funny also, as is the Retirement Party and the Bus Drivers' School.
This is wonderfully funny humour which still works today and very cleverly constructed leaving ... Read More:

I have no idea how well the movie "The Commitments" actually did in the UK, but I saw it when it opened here in Denmark twelve or thirteen years ago, and the soundtrack was a huge hit, not least with people of my generation who usually didn't listen to 60s soul music (I was about 18 at the time).
This is a wonderful colletion of gritty soul and R&B with a bluesy edge, the arrangements, which include trumpet and two saxophones, are muscular but never overblown. Teenaged Joe Cocker-soundalike Andrew Strong is terrific on powerful soul stompers like "Mustang Sally", "In The Midnight Hour", and "Take Me To The River", and Angeline Ball and the predominantly female backing group share the lead vocals on equally great renditions of "Chain Of Fools" and "I Can't ...
