This is my first Blair Douglas cd so I am reviewing with "fresh ears". Each song has a short written background which is very informative and important to remember when listening to the tracks. As there are different guest vocalists each song is something different. Also, the songs lyrics are in Gaelic and english, also something I have not come across before.
The album is a mixture of happy,sad, dramatic,scottish, world music, each song is a delight in its own way. I had to review and recommend this album as it is so refreshing and cannot be simply classed as scottish folk. The sensibility and the talent involved in these performances make the word title seem rather cold to describe it. The choice of those 'songs' is also very aimed, and it is the work that you cannot miss if you love violin. Not the kind of music to hear as a background for any activity, it requires all your attention!
