I was recently given a sun jar as a birthday present and I love it. It sits in my front window, which gets the sunlight during the day, and many of my neighbours have said how cosy it is to see it glowing away there after dark! I am planning to get one for the back garden now as well, and a couple more as Christmas presents.

Since consigning my cooker to the great recycling machine and using instead a pair of convection/grill/microwave ovens I found myself sorely missing my Sunday morning poached eggs and fried bacon breakfast which a microwave just cannot do justice to.
So I purchased this Haden 13356 2 Hob Electric Boiling Ring with thermostat, pilot light and cool touch handles - what a beauty! WIND UP CAMPING LANTERN/ DELUX/ NO BATTERIES REQUIRED Bought this lamp as a cheap, battery free alternative for camping. I had my doubts before it arrived due to the somewhat mixed reviews that it has received. However, I try to always be as objective as possible but I cannot honestly fault this device. I wound it for one minute as instructed and the lamp delivers ample lighting in very dark areas without fading for at least one hour. Of course, it does not have the brightness of battery powered lanterns but the light output would be very sufficient for a tent in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black. I bought one of these lights over a year ago and fitted it over my kitchen door where it performs well ,just bright enough to illuminate a 6 foot square area.
However I also use it in other places i.e. in the shed where it comes on when you open the door ,on the landing where it is bright enough for my daughter to see by but not too bright to wake everyone . When I first got this, it was cheap and ok for occasional use, not waking up the household on night time wanders around the house etc. But it's not cutting edge (any more). As the previous reviewer says, it's not very bright. Also you need 2 hands - one to hold and one to wind up, which is not terribly convenient. I would recommend instead getting a dynamo type one which involves squeezing - you can 'wind up' and use with one hand and they only cost about £3.50 incl. p&p on ebay!

My brother was given this torch for xmas and showed me the other day, and I was very impressed. It gives a very good bright light, and looks
very interesing and rather stylish, even more so as the body is transparent and the mechanism is visible inside(good for scienctific explanations, Mums and Dads,Uncles and Aunties etc.). Be aware that the whole body of the torch lights up as well, which is also very stylish, but maybe not good for clandestine night work. Recieved these lights just 4 days after ordering them. They're a smashing set, especially for the money! They look pretty good too! I got 10 instead of 8 and they all work, no tinkering or messing. The steel tubes are sharp on the edges so be careful when pushing them together. Altogether a nice set at a very good price. I'd recommend them.

This mop is brilliant on hard floors - I have used it on laminate and vinyl flooring and it cleans really easily - especially after a very muddy dog has left his mark. I was very impressed with it and have used it for the last year with no need to use any chemical cleaners at all. However, it gradually started to take longer and longer to heat up and finally stopped working - just two weeks after the 12 month guarantee expired. I think for around £30 it is good value, especially as you save money on liquid floor cleaners, but would not pay more as I think it has a limited lifespan. I only used it about twice a week so it wasn't over-used. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I think I might go for something a bit more "heavy duty" next time.
