The infra sensor doesn't sense and the light is very weak. General construction is clumsy and bulky for what it is.

I must admit to being a little sceptical as to the effectiveness of this solar powered light at first. But this light has proved to be the perfect solution for us. It is very dark at the side of our house as there are no street lights and this light offers plenty of light for me to be able to find the lock on the garage door! Having two adjustable beams is an added bonus as I can shine one on the garage door and the other on the driveway. You aren't getting a super bright security light but that's not what we wanted anyway. We didn't want it coming on and disturbing us and the neighbours. The brightness is subtle enough to not be annoying yet bright enough to serve it's purpose. Whats more it runs from the solar panel so costs you nothing!! ... Read More:

I recently received two of these lights and both were faulty. I found this surprising because I had previously used three of these for some four years with no problems.
Perhaps there is now an issue with quality control. I advise any new purchaser to thoroughly test the light prior to installation. >>More Details |

OK, so your not going to save the planet with this device, but every little helps doesn't it? I bought this to replace my old halogen bulb security light and expected to trade brightness for a more environmentally friendly way of providing a little light after dark. What I didn't expect was a design for a security light that requires you to keep it out of the rain! Something like this should be built for the outdoors, but the battery compartment will let in rain very easily. I'll persevere, but have now taped up the battery draw to keep the weather out. Other than that it's pretty flimsy and the illumination is very weak. Still, seeing as I don't want to use mains electricty, I'll have to put up with this. My advice is look for a solar powered ... I read the previous review and bought a set. After a sunny November day the lights gave out a feeble light for about 90 minutes. This would not last from dusk to when I get home.
The 600 mAh battery is sad. I did not realise that you could buy batteries this weak. Ones I have from 3 years ago are 4 times the capacity. I will try replacing the single battery with a better one. If my neighbour had not run one over (with a wooden shed ???) on the third day I would have returned these for a refund (he did not see it in the dark cos the light had gone off). I bought a single £25 light from a specialist at the same time and it gives 3 times the light for about 3 hours under the same light conditions. What we need is a large panel we ...
