I think this is quite a cool looking object, but then I like things where you can see the inner workings. Seems quite well made, but at this price all it needs to do is outlast a set of batteries to be a bargain.

I've used one of these all summer for camping trips. Previously I used a standard torch with rechargeable AA batteries but these can have a habit of dying just when they're needed and it's expensive to keep buying fresh sets.
This torch is just the job. It provides sufficient illumination for in a tent, walking around a camp site in pitch black and has been very useful at home during power cuts. It's lightweight, reliable and dependable and I know it's there when it's needed so I won't be reverting back to conventional battery-powered torches. WIND UP CAMPING LANTERN/ DELUX/ NO BATTERIES REQUIRED Bought this lamp as a cheap, battery free alternative for camping. I had my doubts before it arrived due to the somewhat mixed reviews that it has received. However, I try to always be as objective as possible but I cannot honestly fault this device. I wound it for one minute as instructed and the lamp delivers ample lighting in very dark areas without fading for at least one hour. Of course, it does not have the brightness of battery powered lanterns but the light output would be very sufficient for a tent in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black. I bought this on the off chance, not really expecting much due to the low price. Well this torch works amazingly well, its bright enough to see with and requires minimal winding.There are 3 light levels, the second one with 2 leds on doesn't work anymore but this isn't really a problem, for most uses one led is enough. We've used it for camping, festivals and around the house and it still works. I'm going to buy some more for work and the van. Makes a pleasant change as far as cheap eco stuff goes.
