When I was going to bed after midnight Thursday, a mouse ran across the floor in front of me. Straight back to computer, booted up, and ordered some snap traps from somewhere. Then I started reading about how sometimes they don't always kill outright and the results can be messy. So, after further investigation I ended up at Amazon and ordered this rat zapper by express delivery. On Friday morning when I had a good look around, the mouse had gnawed through into a container of multi-grain flour. I left the flour in situ but made sure everything else was properly sealed. We live in rural Devon and we'd been plagued by wood mice for 15 years - in all parts of our house, doing £100s of damage. Since we installed this device over a year ago, they've left us alone. Still rife in the garden & outbuildings, and in neighbours' houses, but our house is currently wood mouse free...
So I'd say, give it a try. Maybe its effectiveness varies from species to species. Could be the people it's not working for are dealing with house mice (grey/black urban animals) rather than wood mice (brown rural counterparts). >>More Details |

Just caught my second mouse with one of these and it seems very effective and humane - much more so than the small tilting plastic one I had before (the mouse I let out of this one had a very damp and stressed look to it). If you put food and a lidful of water in the trap it doesn't need to be checked every three or four hours either - you can sleep overnight or go out with a clear conscience. An old toilet roll core gives the mouse somewhere relaxed to hang out.

I have now been running this device in my flat for more than a month to attempt to dislodge an invasion of spiders. Unfortunately it has had no effect at all.

Used these quite a bit now - they do work well but beware they only move the problem elsewhere. I will continue to use these in conjunction with an ultrasonic device to keep my garden cat/fox/badger free. Price is very good compared to other sites/garden centres.

The reservation is that I had to fiddle about with the 4 AA batteries to get it to function. I told the wife I was going to send it back. But then, I got the green light to come on and ever since it has worked like magic.
I leave it in the loft next to a joist because I hear them scrabbling at night. Since June I must have caught about 10 of them - it once zapped two of them at once. Disposal is easy. I used to use poison and they would die in hidden places and stink to high heaven - no such worries now. So go ahead and buy - you won't be disappointed. >>More Details |

I have a kerbside flower bed here in Cape Town, South Africa which dogs used to urinate and defecate on as they were being walked by their owners. This was not good for the flowers or those tending them.
It was really amusing to see how this unit worked: after installation the dogs' owners could be seen walking on the opposite side of the street from mine, led there by their dogs who now wanted to avoid my flower bed. It is a little awkward to get at when you need to replace batteries. I may install a mains power supply at some point. Here the weather can be blazing sun in summer and oppressively wet in winter. .... if you're going to kill something, then do it properly.
I've been looking for these traps for a while, most shops don't seem to have them in, & the ones you can get pander to the squeamish, and don't seem to give a damn about the welfare of the mouse. Most plastic traps are too light and jump backwards, catching the mouse by the nose or a paw (Try a bulldog clip on a fingertip for 5 minutes to get the faintest idea of how that must feel!) Others with light springs just crush & injure the mouse leaving it to die over hours. I've been very busy with a half brick over the last few days putting them out of their misery, out of the 8 mice caught so far (in Rentokil approved traps) I've only had 2 clean kills. Fix ... The plug in beastie removers are great 3 in a pack. I put one in my cellar which seems to attract lots of creepies esp the woodlice variety but since plugging one in a few months ago not one single woodie has appeared what a product. I plugged one in my kitchen even though I havent had a problem with beasties there just in case and one in the bedroom and no more spiders either. What can I say glad I bought these. One thing though you have to have them facing the area you want covered so bear this in mind for instance you cant plug them in behind a cupboard it wont work like that.
