I bought this for camping. What a promise - wind it up and a bright light fills the space. Well it does while you are winding, but then immediately fades to a dull glow. What a misleading piece of "marketing" that comes with this product. I would advise NO ONE buys this - it will only disappoint even at £6. I have recycled mine.

I bought these lights not quite sure what "sparkle lights" meant exactly. It turns out that the lights flash: the 240 bulbs are wired in 24 circuits of 10 (not adjacent bulbs), each of which has one special flasher bulb which causes itself and the other bulbs in its circuit to slowly flash on and off together. The overall affect is a twinkling of the entire set as different groups of bulbs switch on and off independently. It is possible to replace the 24 'flasher' bulbs with ordinary bulbs in order to make all 240 bulbs in the set stay lit continuously. Unfortunately there are not enough spare bulbs to do this with the bulbs supplied with the set, but a mail order form for bulbs (of either type) is included in the set and is also on ...
