Provides some quite advanced tools, but crashes quite often, losing unsaved work. Annoyingly, the help file describes functions from the more expensive version which cannot be found in this cheaper version.

I've been using a PSP since they first came out in 2005 so have got used to moving stuff to and from the PSP and my PCs. To the novice its not always straight forward but Sony do provide enough info in the PSP pack and on their website to explain how to do it.
This piece of software tries to provide a friendly interface from your PC to your PSP. I was suprised how long it took to install and I'm always a bit dubious as you have to wonder how much stuff is being installed on the PC. Anyway after a while it installed fine and I opened the new EXE on my desktop.
The interface to the software looks very Sony in terms of the icons and font used. You plug in your PSP via a USB cable and its contents appear within the software, ... Read More:

I have always used Adobe Premiere since version 6.0 several years ago, assuming that it was the best Windows-based video editing package. However, my problems first began when trying the edit the footage from my new HDV video camera - Premiere Pro (despite being advertised as being HD-friendly) could not handle the files without conversion, which is a long process. I decided to give Sony's own Vegas software a try due to compatability with my video camera's files.
So, how is it to use compared to Premiere? The workspace layout is slightly different to the Adobe software, with more control available through the timeline itself (transitions, audio transitions, adding text, video effects etc) rather than being relegated to the 'Effects Control' ... Read More:

It makes DVD editing quick, and simple, you can even play a music track when the DVD starts.
There may be a problem with the installation, as it says 'missing drive'. The missing drive could be for a hard-drive or a memory pen, so simply put this in the USB, and this should solve the problem.
Note this 4.5 version still does not allow dts 5.1. But it does allow dts wave, but not the standard dts compact. Though the dts wave will read as PCM 2.0 on DVD software, and it may and may not work with your dts encoder.
What the description of this product does not say is that it is not suitable for Sony HDRSR12E camcorders and similar models, the software just does not recognise the format.I am now stuck with software i cannot use and i cannot understand why that fact is not made clear.
One star for the pretty box.

Not so sure what the rating of this software should be but the price is way too high. After registering my new PSP Lite I quickly discovered one needs a so-called "promotional code" for a free copy of Media Manager...
On sonycreativesoftware you can find this for half price and if you do a proper search on an American website, it's free and only takes up 27MB of space.
There you go! We are once again being screwed when our American brothers get this free.. Just like Itunes.. So much for "brotherly love"...
