This is a point and click adventure. Number 19 in the Nancy Drew series by Her Interactive. It's target audience is primarily young females. There is no violence and no cussing in the game. It is clean.
The controls worked well, it's all mouse-driven. The story is the weakest part of the game. Nancy flies over to Ireland, drives a hire car to the Castle then proceeds to solve the mystery on the same night! There are other improbables, but it's impossible to mention them without giving away spoilers. The puzzles were not all well integrated into the story. I bought this for my 6 year old daughter to help improve her English and Math skills, and I can't praise this programme enough!
My daughter actually looks forward to playing the games and frequently comes up to me saying "Mummy, can I play Jump Ahead Year 2 now please?" with much enthusiasm. I thought it might be just a fad - like with all toys! But she really does enjoy it. I think its because the math games are challenging and she enjoys the excitement of the "theme" of the game, like jumping over crocodiles to get across a river. We bought this game when our daughter was 3 and she still enjoys it now she's 7 along with her younger brother, they have spent many a quiet hour having fun and developing their computer skills. It's very easy to follow and is great for young beginners as the games range from easy to more difficult or you can complete the whole challenge if you can! We run this on an Apple Mac and have never had any trouble with it. A great buy for a child just starting to play computer games.

My kids (aged 5 and 8) have loved this software. The 8 year old has spent hours making the cartoon stories, whereas the 5 year old has had great fun with the painting and collage sections. I have no problem with the content as such (tend to agree with previous reviewers), however, the software looks ancient. You only get it to work if logged in as an Administrator, or the program halts prompting a message "Error opening tune file ...". The tune file referred to cannot be found on the computer either because (it seems) this is internal to the program which is quite hopeless as you cannot do anything with the prompt message even if you're software literate (such as changing the folder/file permission as appropriate, assuming it's access permission problem which appears to be the case). The Publisher indicates Windows XP as being supported, but really NO, that is NOT the case if you cannot run the program as an ordinary User of the computer. Administrative ... Read More:

I bought this for my 8 year old niece - apparently now we have to call it "the game that I love " . She has played with it every day for over an hour - its not easy but that just makes it even more fun ! I am now the "best Aunty in the world " for buying this for her ! She also told me I had to leave a review ! Highly recommended by Haannah (aged 8 ) !

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter and she loved it so much I've ordered the fantasy and treasure hunt ones. In fact, at one point her 15 year old brother joined in, till she made him give it back. One warning for British parents - tell your kids that Americans call clothes pegs 'pins'!

Bought this for my grandchildren and they love it. The sticker Book is a big incentive and keeps them at it. The seven year old was struggling at school and working through the maths and English, with some help, gave him a lot of confidence. The younger two join in, and also do the lower level, and it becomes a joint exercise. All good stuff.

My sister and I loved this series of games. We would spend a long time on it having fun and pushing our logic that bit further. We recently re-bought it (our original only worked on windows 95 I think) and spent ages re-living it all over again. Yes, perhaps recently we have not been on it that much, as we are now 18 and 19 years old and are at college and uni, but I have to recommend it to everyone. Also, if you want to buy some computer games for your kids but don't want their brains to mush, we loved 'Maths Rescue' and 'Word Rescue' - fantastic for learning how to spell and do basic maths sums. Overall, love it! :)
