This is my second year of mcafee security and it does not let down. The interface is fantastically easy to use, and stays firmly in the background, only letting you know its there if it brings something to your attention. I like this as with Norton, I couldn't stand the annoying updates windows!! It is easy to request a quick scan, or even a deep clean of your computer and registry. Other feature I found useful was the tabs to overpower windows defence systems and use the much more useful Mcafee software. It also lets you help set up a network, and keeps this protected, ideal for more than one pc in the house. It even gives 3 pc's protection for the year. However, do note that the year starts for all 3 pc's as soon as the first one has it installed. ... Read More:

I've dabbled with NAV since the days of Windows 3.1. I've never liked it - always found that it slows down my PC, is resource-hungry and dreadfully annoying with nags and pop-ups. But this 2009 version is very different. Very light on its feet with a small footprint and no noticeable adverse impact on PC performance. It's too early to say how good it is at protecting users from viruses, spyware etc but at least it runs very smoothly and is inconspicuous in use. Very good indeed. Nice one, Norton!

I started using Kaspersky from Version 6, after becoming dissatisfied with the way some other security vendors had turned their software into Bloatware. Mcafee is an example of security software, that tries to be the Jack of all trades, but is the master of none, while crippling performance. Kaspersky does what it says on the box and protects against Malware without all the Gimmicks. I was impressed with both Versions 6 and 7, but could Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 live up to these high standards?
Installation of Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 went trouble free and quick, I then just had to enter my key code and Customer ID/password, so I could start using the software. The first thing I noticed was Kaspersky appears to be even lighter than Version ... Read More:

As an antivirus software package- Norton is capable of doing the job you paid for it. It is a system that will defend the computers in your home and it is possible not to pull your hair out whilst installing it as I have done with previous antivirus software packages. But alas my friends, this will probably be the last antivirus you will buy due to microsoft announcing the end of their One care antivirus system and giving it free in 2009.
The penny drops - why buy antivirus software if there is an adequate replacement available for free.
Microsoft do have a habit of stuffing things up and getting products late to market but it does beg the question - why buy a product which you could be getting for free....
