PaperPort 11 is excellent as a filing system, but its indexing function is slow and frequently crashes. Instead, use Copernic Desktop Search 2 and fine tune it so that only PaperPort folders are indexed. This search engine is free for home users and produces almost instant results! Furthermore, its indexing proceeds rapidly when your computer is idle. Unlike PaperPort's primitive indexing, it only looks for new additions.
The combination of these two programmes produces the perfect answer for anyone who needs to quickly find data residing amongst thousands of scanned files, pfd files, word documents, etc. >>More Details |

This is the second version of ABBYY software that I have purchased and it does exactly what it says on the box.
My day to day business requires me to handle a lot of paperwork and emails, prior to using this software this was the most time consuming part of my business and a complete nightmare. This new version of the ABBYY product is excellent and I am glad to report that the team has improved the software beyond my expectations. I handle alot of contracts, invoices and reports and have found that ABBYY can handle all of them. This new version now handles each contract as a whole which saves me invaluable time when negotiating and proof reading. What an expensive piece of junk. OCR on PDFs is poor (lots of text missing)and when it saves files in RTF or Word, they can't be opened in RTF or Word!

Cardscan is excellent. Come back from a meeting & scan all the business cards you get in seconds. The software is astoundingly accurate at interpreting company names, phone numbers and email addresses. Occassionally struggles with a logo-name but takes seconds to correct. Then syncronises with Outlook. The softaware can absorb all your existing Outlook contacts, cleverly sorts and removes duplicates (checks with you), so you can sort out your existing contacts database too. Searching is much easier and more functional than Outlook. Also stores an image of the business card, so their cards can go in the bin. Good back up too. And you can drag an address & phone numbers from an email into Cardscan too. A life changer!

Not impressed. It might be good if it integrated properly with Word, but the integration to MS Word is hopeless, and messes up the toolbars and menus. On my copy of Word when I go to View, Toolbars, there is a list of about fifty PDF create toolbars.
Nuance is aware of the problem - the fix is to take away the integration with Word, which they note, will prevent any bookmarks, comments and hyperlinks being copied into the resulting PDF documents - hopeless! And if it isn't integrated, you might as well install Open Office for free and it will convert Word documents to PDF. >>More Details |
