As a new business start-up I spent some time researching my options before choosing to purchase this software. It had all the right messaging on the box about how easily I could create a website, the main tagline on the box says it "Everything you need to get the website you want online..... and it's seriously easy to use" - don't you just love the marketing people??
Well the box is where it starts and finishes for me - there are so many things wrong with this product that it's hard to know where to begin.
Don't be fooled by the price tag, the software is cheap because it is very basic and it's all done online (something they don't tell you on the box). You see Mr Site is not even an application you can install on ... Read More:

I bought this software specifically to create a family website that we can all access, load photos onto and generally keep in touch with each other.
The construction and layout of the pagees really couldn't be any easier - there's no need to learn html for a start, as the software does all the coding for you.
If you have familiarity with Word or other word processing packages, the main pages will look very familiar to you; all it takes is practise... I had a rudimentary and basic site ready in a couple of hours. It still needs some tidying up in terms of presentation, but I'm more than happy with the results so far.
Building a website is something that has been one of life's mysteries to me. I started my journey when you had to really know what you are doing with HTML and it made me run for the hills. This software has given me the confidence to give it a go - and I haven't looked back. So user-friendly that even I can do it, particularly with the online help facility. Great for home or small business use.

It's a fantastic product, but to make it work well and for your site to look and feel really good and a little bit individual, you have to know your way around the internet and computers in general. It's not totally user friendly if you are not used to working outside the Microsoft environment, although the whole thing is pretty intuitive to a relatively seasoned pc/mac user. I love it and think for the price, it's a must for a web presence for personal or not-for-profit orgs or those just setting up in biz. My only gripe is with the page shuffle feature - you have to mend broken links manually. (You can also use commercial web design software to make your website and then just upload to MrSite if you are really worried about losing a previous version)

If you want to make a website professionally, you NEED Dreamweaver. However it is more targeted at people who want to make websites professionally, not novices. If you're a novice, you will definitely need some training to help you get acquainted with the program.
The main aim that Adobe seems to have taken is to just help you out as much as possible in terms of easing the work flow involved in making a website.
I am a freelance web designer with around 7 years experience, having seen Dreamweaver evolve since version MX way back, you can really notice the difference in this new version of CS4.
I'm not someone for gimmicks, features need to be useful. And having used Dreamweaver CS4 for a few months now testing, I can safely ... Read More:

I don't understand why Expression Web has grown in popularity. Microsoft really have come up trumps for once. Its a small install, way smaller than Dreamweaver, intuaitive and incredibly effective. Its also massivley cheaper than Adobe's baby.
I have used Dreamweaver for sometime and it now seems to have gone the way of most Microsoft offerings. Its bloated, too complicated and annoyingly produces messy propriety code. It also has restritive licensing and poor upgrade routes.
Expression Web just churns out fully XHTML compliant code and doesn't even add anything in the meta data to say its produced it (very unusual these days). It links well with ASP pages and has enough .net snippets in there for those who want the power of asp pages but ... Read More:
