This is a first rate package for developing photoshows and doing other things - it is intuitive and therefore easy to use and the consequent results are really professional. The only negative is that initially it takes an age to load on to your PC but given that you only do this once it's hardly worth griping about. Highly recommended (the Ultimate version has enhanced capability around HD etc.)

Bought this programm 2 weeks ago...At the beginning i had some doubts because of the negative reviews here. But then decided to try it by myself (and finally the price is pretty good).
So, here is my review:
(1) Connected the grabber it easily with my videorecorder. (2) Installed the included Movies on DVD 7 and !IMPORTANT! Downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Magix Homepage (product page) for the videograbber. (3) Finished!
As far as i can say it works perfectly. Haven't tried very long recordings yet but within 1 hour videos everything is absolute sync. There is definitely no gap between picture and sound.
My recommendation for all people with async sound --> get and install the latest driver from ... Read More:

Vista is the current format and it does not work with this product- ended up buying Rescue Your Videotapes and it did work! - just hassle buying and changing a product. At least its sorted out and it would have saved me time if I had known from the start. Anyway just check your operating sytem before purchase.

Typical Pinnacle fare unfortunately - more fool me. Ridden with bugs - at first it seems great, until you actually need to do anything such as change the speed of a clip or render to AVI. Mine will not do either, even with the latest patch applied.
I had a mainstream setup as well - motherboard, CPU, soundcard, DVD writer - everything except the power supply is mainstream componentry, selected with the sole intention of making it the most low-risk option I could. What a waste of time.
No doubt there are still those at the Pinnacle forum who think it's user error - it's a joke. This is consumer-level software, it should just install and run (like almost everything else).
I should have got a Mac and Final Cut. Next time, I will.

I'm impressed with this software package. The editing capability is straight-forward to use. The pre-sets that can be applied, are extremely useful and really spot on in my opinion. The menu layouts seem appropriate and logical; the learning curve to get into the software is around an hour I thought. Great value considering the benefits and the overall value of the package. Worth considering if it is on a short-list and cost is a factor, anyone making the purchase really will not be disappointed. Recommended.
Having taken a great deal of camcorder footage on a recent touring holiday in Canada, I turned to my long owned(but little used)Pinnacle Studio 9 editing package. After some initial difficulty,I eventually captured the project into the software. That's when the problems started!
It took many, many attempts to edit the first hour of video because of repeated hangups/crashes, which meant computer restarts each time.
However, after sheer dogged determination, and taking each editing process very slowly, I achieved the desired edit and moved on to the movie capture stage to start the process of transfer to DVD.
Hours and hours of attempts to render for this purpose caused variable crashes everytime!
My computer specifications met all the requirements on the ... Read More:

I've waited long for the ability to edit AVCHD with Premier, having used the earlier DV versions with success. I have upgraded my PC (Quad 2.8GhZ - 4Gb RAM - 9800GT - Vista HP SP1) but I have to be very patient.
It tends to crash if I move clips quickly or click the next action before the last has been executed. Premier 'not responding' is an all to familiar line in task manager
Having said that, my previous experience with Premier, at this stage, is similar and as I became more familiar with the earlier suites, crashes did, in the past, reduce.
I've yet to make a BluRay DVD but the outlook is promising.
The booklet and help are very poor. If I had no experience I would be really in trouble trying to carry out simple edits.

As i saw in review from another coustomer (about the non-Ultimate version), the problems with Ulead Video Studio remains in the new version.
I HAVE VIDEO STUDIO 9 (German Edition).
I like it and i would like to buy the new version, because of the new possibilities, which i need.
BUT: I do not only have the same problem, which is not being able to finish the DVD, but i have the problem also also to "start" it.
When i try to import a DVD, i receive the message "Failed to read DVD information. Report ID: 0x80040901(2305).
I have 2 computers (WinXP Pro) and i installed/uninstalled them more than 20 times since July 2008 to resolve the problem in BOTH of them, but even if the program works fine for few days, then, suddenly the problem appears again without installing ... Read More:

Having used Final Cut Express 3.5 for a while now, and after editing numerous projects I welcomed version 4's release however I must admit to being rather disappointed. The new features seem next to non-existant and although Apple are really pushing the new version I would be tempted to go with version 3.5 as your paying a lot less and getting basically the same package. Parhaps when version 5 is released in the future it will be a bit more of a step forward as opposed to a step sideways.
