I purchased this product, installed it on my Vista laptop and had an initial issue with it popping up repeatedly saying that I had a trial version, when I had purchased a full version with multiple licenses. I tried with their online support team and then telephone support to resolve this issue. No one was able to resolve the issue and then when the so called 'trial period' ended it stopped working altogether. I once again spent endless hours on the telephone and with online tech help to try and resolve this issue and in the end downloaded a new bit defender from a link they sent me which stopped my laptop working completely. Seems that it's getting all the rewards, I thought to myself 'why not buy it'? A few days later after comparing what the competitors had to offer I got it. It installed nicely and quickly and hasn't made my PC slower until I used the internet. It kept on asking me if I want to allow this and that to send a cookie to some website so I just click on 'Allow'. The next time I used the internet, it asked me again. Again again and again. Bitdefender has a good reputation but unfortunately I have had several problems with this product. First, it doesn't seem to easily coexist with my 3rd party anti-spyware product which I have had to switch off. Secondly, I have also found it to be unstable and it crashed again today, which prompted this review. Thirdly, the interface sometimes doesn't seem to respond when I try to click on the buttons. I hope that other people have had a better experience but I am sorry that I switched from my previous antivirus product.

I bought this for a 1 GHz Celeron machine using 256 MB of memory that had previously been running Kaspersky 6 with no problems. On installing the BitDefender however it was clear that the system was now running slower, with a noticeable 'satellite delay'.
Despite fiddling with settings and attempting to pare-down the software burden the problems persisted. On uninstalling BitDefender, the problem disappeared. I wasn't permitted to return the product, so despite appearing cheaper than some competing products, the price was money wasted. >>More Details |

My ADSL modem has a built in firewall, and with Windows Firewall giving me added software protection I don't want or need a hard-core multi-functioning package constantly notifying me that "Windows Media Player is trying to access the internet" or constantly interfering with devices I attach to my home network. It's suprising how hard it is to find a simple A-V utility that doesn't eat up memory and slow down your PC. However, if that is what you're looking for, this is the one to go for. Mine installed with no trouble and now sits quietly doing its job. Excellent.
