It is a fairly good product, however it slows down your computer. I installed the program on a high-end 3.5 ghz P4 processor, yet my start up is ever so slow. I would recommend Kaspersky which I have also received through the Vine program as a much better product.
Apart from this, Norton is fairly easy to install, and in my opinion is foolproof. Thus, for novice users not running too many programs on their desktops/laptops, this may be a more viable option.

I have used Norton for many years, but this version has convinced me I will never use them again. The problems started two days after installing the new version. The software said the licence key had expired. After numerous calls to get through to support, I eventually succeeded and was told that I needed to uninstall, change the computer clock back 1 month and re install. This "fix" seemed to work. A few weeks later, with my new machine apparently working well, I decided to copy all my data from an old machine onto the new machine with Norton. So I put in the hard drive, and Norton claimed the licence had again expired. Connecting to the Norton site the key seemed to be successfully recovered. After copying all my data I removed the old hard ... Read More:

The product is an absolute joke. And the Technical Support / Customer Service at Symantec is even worse.
1.) Upon Starting the PC I am greeted with multiple pop-ups - Virus Definitions Out of Date and Virus Scan Out of Date etc etc. On entering the software everything is ok.....
2.) The system seems to hang on the "one button check up" during the Norton Cleanup scan and then after 30 minutes will find files to clean up. Example found 763 then cleaned. Immediately ran again and found 1091, then cleaned (again). Immediately ran again and found 2111.
3.) Have used Symantec Chat on 4 occasions and each time they tell me that it is sorted. When I start the computer again, the problems start again.
One thing about Symantec products is they work, if you just want a good anti-virus scanner that is simple to use and that is simple to keep up to date then this is the answer. The user interface if minimal, allowing you to scan your drives individually or all at once as well as manually running the update program. Other than installing it and letting it run a full system scan every now and then there is nothing to do, the software runs in the background; along with the auto updater.

Okay, i'm up to date with modern technology and a bit behind when it comes with virus protection, lets say not as experienced as some and probably one of the youngest to comment on a product. I currently am using Norton nternet Security and thought about buying this product. But one word of advice you should consider. At the start the sign up to "Norton" is free. For a whole year it will do its job successfully, it does benefit from a simple user interface and isn't doesn't regularly demand attention. Its good for that i sing its praise. But after one year of the product, exactly 365 days. The product basically turns off. Its still monitors the basics but no longer recieves updates, so the risk is the same as before. Then comes the constant pop-up asking ... Read More:

The problems that people are having with this Software is the way that it tries to make the image of your Hard drive, the default settings for this version of Ghost is it tries to do it all in one big chunk. Which is where it fails if peoples External Hard Drives are Fat32 File System, as it will save only 4Gb Clusters at a time, which was ok for earlier versions of Ghost, but as i found to my cost it isn't ok for this version.
I found this out after a lengthy on line chat with Symantec technical Support, i also asked them as to why there isn't information on this in the product packaging, because if it was then people wouldn't be giving it such negative feedback, they said they'd pass the feedback on.
I had a previous version of Norton on the computer and followed the instructions with the product to delete this before installing Norton 360. After installation I had very slow computer operation and long switch-on time. I contacted Symantek by EMail and their response said I needed to download their special routine to delete a previous Norton version. This did not improve matters. Many EMails were exchanged and procedures followed until deleting Norton files in a Temp location eventually enabled the computer to run at normal speed, but still takes 5 minutes to switch on. The problem is with the Norton file ccSvcHst.exe which demanded 96% of CPU time on my computer until the Temp files were deleted. It is obvious that Symantex do not provide proper instructions ... Provides excellent internet security, free updates, user friendly and more and more features... Easy to install even though it takes some more time than the previous product. But it covers more area and therefore it overcomes that deficit. It gives maximum security and I highly recommend this product. I actually purchased the version 1 nearly 7 months back but recently it has been upgraded free to version 2 by Norton! ...Great news!!
