The issue of likely growing interest in viruses being written for attacks on Macs is an accident waiting to happen - as Mac User magazine (11th April 2008) recently wrote the fact pattern with growing use of Mac computers means that in their estimation 2008 will be the year the Mac hackers finally break through and recent experiments at the CanSecWest security conference demonstrated in an open competition between hackers how easy this is!

The problem with this offering is that it is Mac OS specific and so a system covering the Windows "side" if that is your set up through using Boot Camp or more likely Parallels or a comparable system on the same computer is left open to viruses. For such joint users this product will be of minimal ... Read More:

be careful. We installed this onto 5 systems. 4 in a mini network and 1 laptop. the laptop had a different configuration to the other 4 systems. All four systems had problems especially when we installed this onto the system acting as a server. ONce we did this we had drives failing, drive inaccessible, and systems grounding to a halt. the laptop which is a really simple set up failed immediately and when you used an external drive it threw up errors requesting a fdd drive.

We have returned to our old 2008 product and bingo its all back runnning fine. I'd avoid upgrading if I was you. I have no idea what is causing the problems but something is and it could be terminal for someone who uses lots of products on a system or uses lots ... Read More:

This product seems to have fundamental flaw in that like others I too have suddenly been victim to the defect that this product suddenly, without warning, decides your license has expired even though it has months and months left. When it works it works well but beware this piece of ???? It may suddenly refuse to work at all.

I had a previous version of Norton on the computer and followed the instructions with the product to delete this before installing Norton 360. After installation I had very slow computer operation and long switch-on time. I contacted Symantek by EMail and their response said I needed to download their special routine to delete a previous Norton version. This did not improve matters. Many EMails were exchanged and procedures followed until deleting Norton files in a Temp location eventually enabled the computer to run at normal speed, but still takes 5 minutes to switch on. The problem is with the Norton file ccSvcHst.exe which demanded 96% of CPU time on my computer until the Temp files were deleted. It is obvious that Symantex do not provide proper instructions ... A agree with all the others who posted negative reviews - not only did it slow the computer to a standstill, performing scans constantly, but after un-installing it I found that it was still running a process in the background with I had to remove manually, along with a lot of other files the uninstall had failed to remove.

I would also like to complain about the large number of so called reviews that read suspiciously like adverts for anti-virus programs. Anyone who has used this product could not reasonably give it five stars. What proceedures does amazon have to prevent interested parties writing fake reviews?

Many of the five star reviewers seem entirely certain that 'norton protects against all viruses/spyware etc - how can they know that? ... Read More:

Having bought this and used it for over 100 days to backup my computer, I then had a problem and had to move from the save function to the restore function.

Hours of phone calls to support diagnosing v2isr.exe errors, downloading new versions of the disk, brought no relief.

I was then told by symantec, that I required a cd-rom burner and software to move onwards...something you'll note was not on the list of their system requirements, so add £100 to the cost of the software to make it work.

After shelling out for a burner, the v2isr.exe error persists, and Symantec have suggestion I purchase (yes you read that right) purchase ghost 14, as that works....

Amazing, avoid Symantec and look elsewhere.

I've actually owned a lot of Norton stuff, and my god do they slow down your computer to a snails pace.

It gets in everywhere and screws everything up.

If you want a decent Internet Security package, check out Kaspersky, you can download it from their site - much much better.

Norton is rubbish.
