Within minutes of completing the acoustic optimisation procedure after installation you will be surprised at how quickly and naturally you can speak and how accurate the voice recognition is. For me, it was about 98% accurate and much faster than typing.
Unfortunately, this was spoiled by a headset that pinches, even after being adjusted for size, and leaves you with a headache within fifteen minutes. This seemed more like a poorly designed product than a manufacturing error. The manual also states that the headset can be worn either way round. However, the earpiece is obviously designed to be worn over the left ear and is much less comfortable over the right. This is inconvenient if your computer is on your right. I don't know whether ... Although I did have some minor problems installing this product with a little bit of research I managed to resolve it.
This programme is highly capable and highly useful. It might take a little bit of getting used to as in the way you talk to it and it needing a limited amount of training. But the end result is surprisingly accurate. I am very impressed.
The biggest problem that I have is remembering to use the software as I tend to automatically go to the keyboard to type.
The other great aspect of this software is that you can use it anywhere that you would normally type. So in effect if you wanted you could almost never have to type another word again.

I began using Dragon 9.5 due to a worsening wrist problem aggravated by typing. From the first, I found the experience generally frustrating due to the number of mistakes made in nearly every sentence, which slowed my work down considerably. After approximately a year, version 9.5 became corrupt, and while I was loathe to spend any more money on what I considered to be an essentially faulty product, I reluctantly upgraded to version 10, which I have just installed today. (Note: I am not using Windows Vista, but generally, I had no problems with the installation).
I discovered from reading several reviews, that it was possible to upgrade to version 10 Preferred (non-wireless) and still use my wireless headset that came with version 9.5. ... Read More:

PaperPort 11 is excellent as a filing system, but its indexing function is slow and frequently crashes. Instead, use Copernic Desktop Search 2 and fine tune it so that only PaperPort folders are indexed. This search engine is free for home users and produces almost instant results! Furthermore, its indexing proceeds rapidly when your computer is idle. Unlike PaperPort's primitive indexing, it only looks for new additions.
The combination of these two programmes produces the perfect answer for anyone who needs to quickly find data residing amongst thousands of scanned files, pfd files, word documents, etc.

What an expensive piece of junk. OCR on PDFs is poor (lots of text missing)and when it saves files in RTF or Word, they can't be opened in RTF or Word!
If only you could get a refund on software which is this bad.
