I bought this software specifically to create a family website that we can all access, load photos onto and generally keep in touch with each other.
The construction and layout of the pagees really couldn't be any easier - there's no need to learn html for a start, as the software does all the coding for you. If you have familiarity with Word or other word processing packages, the main pages will look very familiar to you; all it takes is practise... I had a rudimentary and basic site ready in a couple of hours. It still needs some tidying up in terms of presentation, but I'm more than happy with the results so far. This is the first time I am using Photoplus. I am a Photoshop man and I've been using CS2 for awhile now. After the installation which was as straghtforward as it gets. The first thing that strikes you is that the layout is similar to photoshop. So, if you are familiar with Photoshop then this package will be a comfort.
When it comes to features it has the ability for layer masks, whereby you can make changes to layers and it isn't deleted, great for graphic design etc. You can even record your actions as macros, which is a boon when you applying to bulk set of images. For those not in the design field but with publishing needs (that don't want to fork out to a printing company) then PagePlus is just about all you need. Serif have included enough features that push the software a lot further than a simple layout programme.
The software has thousands of templates and logos for those that don't wish to have a completely original design. PagePlus' templates are of a good quality and require little work to bring them up to a professional standard. For those that want to customise PagePlus x3 comes with a few features of interest. Much like Serif's other efforts (PagePlus, WebPlus etc) DrawPlus x2 offers an easy-to-use interface with a large number of graphics features. For those wishing to add graphics and animation to an existing website or promotional brochures etc DrawPlus x2 just about covers all bases for you to create and publish in half the time it would take on higher end graphics software.
Essentially DrawPlus is a vector-drawing tool. I found drawing to be extremely smooth with no lag whatsoever. Definitely a plus for those new to graphical software as there's nothing worse than drawing something then waiting while the software ponders what you're doing. Lets be clear first of all, this suite isn't Photoshop or Illustrator. I've used the so called top-of-the-range suites for a while and I wasn't expecting much from the Serfif suite, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The suite installs cleanly with the three products; PagePlus: a DTP package, DrawPlus: a drawing/graphics package and ImpactPlus: a 3D animation package, installing from a single set-up and a single disk. I particularly liked the location selection at set-up determining standard paper sizes and dictionaries instead of setting them up indivisually later. The products feel very capable with all the functionality 90% of home users would ever require and more. I bought this product because it is aimed at beginners and includes extensive tutorials. Just be aware if you have Adobe 8 on your computer and possibly other versions (this is a long-standing problem with this software as I learned afterwards from forums online complaining about the same thing), you will not have access to the tutorials. I have gone through the suggested support options on the Serif site and it has made no difference. I have also emailed them several times and there has been no reply. So if you need the tutorials like I do, avoid this product--you won't be able to access them and Serif customer support is non existent.

This product is quite easy to use reasonably intuitive and with a spare ½ hour you should be come proficient in using this product quite quickly.
First up loading the product on Windows XP computer was easy , the product comes with two discs the Digital scrapbook artist software and a separate disc Dasiytrail digikit collection 1 which also loaded trouble free. Once loaded click on the desktop icon and the interface comes up. From here you can basically start . Pick a background add photos (also comes with a photo editor) and text. In one afternoon my daughter (age 10) had picked up how to use the product made 7 scrapbook pages and printed them on my home printer. I already own page plus X2 and Photo Plus 9 so I decided to give this a try,its brilliant,so easy to use and the finished D V D,s are fantastic,
