Having been a Flash user for years I was wanting some software that would make character animation faster and more intuitive, and allow me to export the results for use in Flash should I so wish.
Anime Studio 5 makes animating characters so much faster, it exports to SWF and these play fine in the Flash player.
Flash developers need to know this however - What I really wanted to do was import SWFs generated by Anime Studio into Flash to use in interactive work. My first attempt at import was not perfect. The import process was without errors, but the results viewed in Flash MX 2004 showed some objects with missing fills. (As with any SWF import into Flash tween data is missing and every frame is a keyframe.) It does ... Read More:

Probably like most of you reading this, i had just made the leap to mac, leaving behind the likes of Windows, Office, Studio 8 for PC. The cost of conversion was daunting. Then i saw this little gem, and thought i had nothing to lose. Not only did i get a free upgrade to V2, i was completely astonished by the intergration. I have high hopes of most things i order and frequently feel let down, but not with this. It fulfills all my needs and more. Yes, letting go of Windows isn't easy, but with this on you Mac you can have your cake and eat it. When Outlook fires up on you Mac desktop and completely integrates with your WIFI, Bluetooth, ICam etc it really is impressive. I can now wean myself off Bill Gates cashflow and become an Applephile. As a ... Read More:

despite it saying BOTH on the box AND on the amazon page, there IS NO WORD BALLOON feature! It's a goddamn con. Sure, you can draw your own word balloons but you can do that in any other programme, either save your money and don't buy this or shell out for the EX version.

It's a shame that the word 'Anime' is in the title for this fantastic piece of software. It CAN be used for anime style animation, but it is capable of vastly more than that. In essence, it is best suited to a cut-out style of animation using characters and objects that you can either draw within the program, or prepare (or find) elsewhere and then import. In truth, it ought to be called 'Animation Studio' because that is what it is.
Unlike almost all other animation software until you reach the stratospheric heights and costs of full professional programs, it offers a system of character animation that is based upon a build-it-yourself skeleton. This is called 'rigging' and uses the principles of adjustable and movable 'bones'. This principle ... Read More:

There is a fair amount of Poser content available and there are free applications you can use to make use of these resources, without having to punish yourself by using this absolutely dreadful piece of software.
the developers have spent so much time on the eye-candy and made some absolutely, breathtakingly stupid decisions on the functionality it really does defy belief.
Firstly, the library you are forced to use to access your 3d content is unusable. You have to manually click an arrow repeatedly to scroll through your content, which may very well consist of hundreds (if not thousands) of directories because the developers - in their infinite wisdom have chosen to continue to force their users to separate out content into its basic ... A serious piece of software, that anyone with no prior knowledge of graphics design can use. Its ultimate focus is to evntually lead you into designing full blown comic strips, but it can also be used as a powerful drawing tool on its own, given the vast array of options availible (diff thicknesses of pencil/pen, inking tools etc). To be fully appreciated it is ideally used with a pen tablet, but I managed without for a few months. Once you get the hang of it, its a breeze. Though its all in black and white, (japanese manga in its original form) the importing possibilties are endless. I've imported previous drawings from corel painter and even used photos. I now have a mac so need to replace my windows version hence my reason to sell it. You know you want to!
