In my opinion, Vista is a better product than XP but whether or not it is worth upgrading depends upon the specification of your pc. If you have a new pc with above-minimum specification (especially minimum 2Gb ram, preferably 3Gb) and decide to run under Vista, I think you will be happy with it - provided all your software is Vista-compatible. But if your pc has less than 2Gb ram, or includes components more than about three years old, or you don't have Vista-certified versions of software or are hoping to play old games, then I would advise you to stick with XP. It is by no means an essential upgrade and probably you could wait another year or two.

Having read the other reviews here and elsewhere I gave it a whirl.
My purchase was due to having installed windows a fresh due to some dual boot issues and I simply could not be bothered doing it all again.
One 400GB hard drive to be divided, already running windows XP - Arconis installed quickly no problems, scanned the drives within 10 seconds, gave me automated options and upon chopping the disk into a 100gb system drive and a 300gb data drive I hit commit and it was done, reeboot required to complete the task and windows ran beautifully. Only critisism starts here. Once the major task was completed I could not get Arconis to go again without waiting 30 minutes for it to analyse the drives, but what the heck I'm happy and don't ... In one paragraph...i took the chance and took a day out my life to upgrade with the Vista Basic OEM software and it worked, well. My integrated sound card worked straight away and this was probably due to being connected to the internet whilst loading Vista. I did delete a few programs on my now old XP running PC, but left Broadband and every other vital program intact. I had to reinstall Office 2007 and my printer etc. My video card is older and doesn't work with my new Vista DVD media Movie Maker nor 'some of the non essential DVD features' of my seperate new Roxio burn suite software 2009, really only the DVD player side, but other than that Vista has given my 2006 PC no problems. I had to download a Roxio driver for £9.99 for my Vista based DVD ... Read More:

Normally a new release of a development environment is just a small number of enhancements and a few minor changes to the language features. With this release of Visual Studio Microsoft have almost created an entirely new experience for the developer. Core language enhancements such as LINQ and extension methods combined with major changes to the tools such as IntelliSense for JavaScript make this a must have version of this already great development environment.
The ability to target multiple versions of the framework from within one development environment is a great advantage, now you don't need to have multiple versions of Visual Studio installed this one version can target version 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 of the dot net framework. The unit test features ... Read More:

I have always had a soft spot for Publisher and still use the 2003 version for my teaching and for producing teaching handouts. I haven't bought the 2007 version but have looked at it and it all seems very similar to what has gone before.
For the money, it looks very expensive these days and very poor when compared to products from Serif and the like. Also, remember the latest version of Word makes a good stab at being a half decent DTP application, at least for simple projects. Buying both really is bordering on duplication.
I think I would need a lot or persuading to part with £140 for something which is really a tarted up version of 2003. Most of the time I use a Mac and an application called Swift Publisher, which knocks the socks off Publisher ... Read More:
